Wyoming, Michigan (April 8, 2015) – Brian Campbell’s 2014 racing season started off well enough in the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS. Two wins and
a second place finish in the first four races had the Wyoming, Michigan veteran sitting on top of the points standings in the early going. Then two hard crashes in
back to back races signified what the rest of the year would look like. A third crash in August forced him and the Lakeshore Motorsports Team to step back
and regroup for the rest of the season.
Now with 2014 just a distant memory, the 2015 campaign is here and the 36-year-old standout, along-with his Lakeshore Motorsports Team have refocused his
efforts and are ready for a redemption type of season. The first race of the new campaign is at a place where he has visited victory lane more than once, Toledo
Speedway. The fast 1/2 (0.500) mile high-banked paved oval located just south of the Michigan / Ohio state line in Toledo, Ohio serves as hosts of the 7-Up 100
Presented by Royal Truck & Trailer Sales.
“We’re excited to kick off the new season at Toledo. It’s one of my favorite race tracks and we’ve been fortunate enough to have enjoyed some success there. Especially the past three years,” Campbell stated. “We started last year off pretty strong and hopefully we can continue that stretch all season long. Midseason last year was not good for us. But we’re past that now and we’re ready to get this season started off right and continue to build from there. We have a solid team here and we’ve been together a long time in various forms. We’ll be just fine.” He smiled.
In addition to racing with the ARCA/CRA Super Series in 2015, Campbell also plans to frequent home more often at his home track of Berlin Raceway in the tracks Super Late Models division which consists of eight races on the tricky 7/16s (0.437) mile semi-banked paved oval. It’s at Berlin where Campbell has been strong over the years in CRA competition with six career ARCA/CRA victories.
As for Toledo, Campbell has won two of the last three ARCA/CRA Super Series races at the historic Buckeye State oval and also won the inaugural JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour event in 2013, which was also held at Toledo. The Great Lakes State veteran is one of the most successful drivers in ARCA/CRA Super Series history as he is tied for fifth all-time in career wins with 2005 Champion, Jeff Lane as both drivers have 15 victories.
In 72 career starts, he has also recorded 24 top five finishes, tied for 14th all-time with 2004 Champion, Chuck Barnes Jr. Campbell also has 34 top 10s, tied for 21st all-time with Jason Dietsch, Dave Jackson and Ross Kenseth. Since the 2002 racing season when he made his series debut, he has completed a staggering 8.135 laps, good for 20th all-time while leading 909 of those circuits, 10th best all-time. Campbell has also picked up six career Fast Qualifier Awards which is good for tied for 13th all-time with Boris Jurkovic, Ray Skillman and T.J. Reaid.
For the 2015 racing season, Campbell’s familiar white #47 Lakeshore Motorsports / Ford Fusion will carry sponsorship decals and support from Merritt Speedway as well as McGunegill Engine Performance, Sweet Manufacturing, Port City Racecars, Penske Racing Shocks, Driven Racing Oil, Handy Wacks Products and M.P.H.
