Bi-Centennial 200 for the Lawrence Towing CRA Street Stocks Sunday at Winchester Speedway

Salem, IN (August 1, 2018) – The Lawrence Towing CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS will be back in action this Saturday on the High Banks of Winchester Speedway located in Winchester, IN. Sunday’s Bi-Centennial 200 will be the fourth event in the 2018 CRA Street Stock Five Crown Series, and will have the highest purse payoff of the season for a CRA Street Stock event.

 

With the promotion of the Bi-Centennial celebration of Winchester and Randolph County with this event, Winchester Speedway officials will have almost $5,000 in additional bonus money for the Sunday’s Bi-Centennial 200. Some of the bonuses include $200 for the events fast qualifier, $200 to the highest finishing previous 2018 winner, $250 for the leader at lap 25, $100 for the leader at lap 33, $100 for the leader of lap 123, $100 to the second place finisher, $100 to the third place finisher, $100 to the finisher advancing the most positions, $100 to the team traveling the furthest and much more!

 

The first Five Crown event was April 21st, at Shadybowl Speedway were Brett Hudson took the dominating win. The second was at Anderson Speedway on June 16th were Josh Poore got the win. The third event was canceled because of weather at Kentucky Motor Speedway on July 22nd. The Five Crown Championship event will now be at Mt. Lawn Speedway on Saturday, August 25th after its original May 6th scheduled event was postponed by rain.

 

In addition to the $3000 minimum to win for each Five Crown event, there will be a Points Champion from the five events who will receive a $1000 bonus. Second in points will receive a $600 bonus, third place a $400 bonus, then there will be two $250 bonuses from a random draw from the cars that attended all five events. Each of the Five Crown Series events except Winchester will be 4 tire races, all five will have a break at lap 100 to add fuel and make adjustments. Each Five Crown event winner and the overall Champion will receive a specially designed buckle from Crumrine Buckle Manufacturing.

 

Jacob McElfresh leads the Five Crown points after the first two events. Brian Hopkins is in second place, he is nine points behind McElfresh. Brett Hudson is in third place, after having a devastating crash in the Anderson Speedway event, he is only two points behind Hopkins. James Kirby III and Anderson winner Poore are tied for fourth place, they are 10 points behind Hudson.

 

Sunday’s event will be the seventh point’s event of the season for the CRA Street Stocks. Other winners besides Hudson and Poore in the Five Crown events to date include Chuck Barnes Jr., who won his second straight EDCO 50 at the Short Track U.S. Nationals at Bristol Motor Speedway on May 20th, Blake Hillard who won the series event on June 3rd at Salem Speedway and Jake Hinton who got his first ever CRA win at the series event on June 30th at Baer Field Motorsports Park. Hudson is locked into the series Chase for the Championship if he competes in at least 70% of the series events leading up to the season ending four Chase events.

 

Nathan Greene is the series Championship point’s leader heading into Sunday’s event. McElfresh is in second place, he is only two points behind Greene. J.J. Schafer is in third place, he is 23 points behind McElfresh. Hudson is in fourth place, he is 19 points behind Schafer. Justin Oberlin is in fifth place, he is 13 points behind Hudson.

 

There is an open practice on Friday, pits open at 3:45pm, open practice will go from 5 to 9pm. Teams will be allowed to keep their haulers inside the track for the open practice on Friday.

 

Pit Gates open on Sunday at 9am. The first of two practice sessions is set to begin at 10:30am for the CRA Street Stocks. Qualifying is set to begin at 12noon. There will be an on track autograph session with all the competitors at 1pm. The race program will begin at 2pm and will include the Bi-Centennial 200 for the Lawrence Towing CRA Street Stocks. Sunday’s on track events will also include laps from the Old Timers, plus racing from the Vores Compact Touring Series, Thunder Roadsters and Thunder Cars.
