Berlin Raceway Makes Format Changes to the Battle at Berlin 251 Presented by Primera Plastics

JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Event to now Pay $5000 to Win that Weekend

 

Salem, IN (May 20, 2016) – Berlin Raceway officials have announced some changes in the format for the Battle at Berlin 251 Presented by Primera Plastics, sanctioned by  the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS, which will be held at Berlin Raceway on Monday, June 13th. Most of the changes are in the weekend schedule of events and the Battle at Berlin 251 qualifying. With the track getting township approval to have some on track activities on Sunday, there will now be a two hour open practice on Sunday, the times during that open practice will determine the qualifying order for the Battle at Berlin 251, slowest in that practice will qualify first, down to the fastest who will qualify last. Qualifying for the Battle at Berlin 251 will now take place on Monday afternoon, the day of the event.

 

There will still be an open practice on Friday, June 10th for all cars racing during the weekend and there will be a 45 minute open practice session for Battle at Berlin 251 cars only as part of the Saturday, June 11th practice sessions and a 15 minute Battle at Berlin 251 Challenge open practice session during the race program Saturday night, a set of tires for the 251 will be awarded to the two fastest teams in that 15 minute practice session.

 

The track has also announced that Saturday’s JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour event will now pay $5000 to win, doubling the traditional first place payoff for that 100 lap event and the track will provide two provisional starting positions in the Battle at Berlin 251 for the two highest finishers not locked into the Battle at Berlin 251 lineup after qualifying. Teams purchasing a 4 day pit pass will not be charged for Sunday’s open practice. Teams purchasing pit passes for Friday’s open practice will get to eat free at Friday evenings Pig Roast at the track after the open practice.

 

The Battle at Berlin 251 will pay $15,000 to win and $1,500 to start plus a $20 lap leader bonus for every lap lead. The race will be a 10 tire event and will count caution laps. As previously announced the event will have a 5 minute break at lap 100 and a 5 minute break at lap 200. During those breaks teams will be able to change tires, add fuel and make adjustments. Teams will be relined up how they leave pit road after servicing their car during the breaks.

 

The Battle at Berlin 251 Presented by Primera Plastics will be the first event of the 2016 JEGS/CRA $100,000 Super Late Model Triple Crown, which will pay a driver $100,000 bonus if a driver can win the Battle at Berlin 251, the Redbud 300 at Anderson Speedway on July 16th, and the 45th Annual Winchester 400 at Winchester Speedway on October 9th. There is a $10,000 bonus if a driver can only win two of the events. If no driver wins two of the Triple Crown events, the driver who accumulates the most points during those three events will receive a $5,000 bonus and the title of Champion of the JEGS/CRA $100,000 Super Late Model Triple Crown.

 

The Battle at Berlin 251Weekend will start off with an open practice on Friday, June 10th, pits open at 12noon, open practice will go from 4 to 8pm.  Pits will open on Saturday, June 11th at 11am, practice will begin at 2pm, qualifying for JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour presented by Chevrolet Performance at 5pm. Racing action will begin at 6:30pm Saturday and will include the 100 lap, $5000 to win, event for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour. Also racing on Saturday will be the Broaster Chicken ICAR Modified Tour and the Berlin Raceway Super Stocks.

 

Pits will open on Sunday, June 12th at 12noon, required tech will begin at 1pm with open practice going from 3pm and go to 5pm for the Battle at Berlin 251 cars. Pits open on Monday, June 13th at 11am, with practice beginning at 1:30pm. Qualifying for the Battle at Berlin 251 will begin at 4:30pm. There will be an on track autograph session with all the drivers beginning at 5:30 pm. The race program will begin at 6:30pm with the Battle at Berlin 251 Last Chance race, after that the pre-race festivities will begin for the Battle at Berlin 251, the Battle at Berlin 251 Presented by Primera Plastics will go green shortly after driver intros.

 

Berlin Raceway has announced that the tires for the Battle at Berlin 251 will be Hoosier F45’s on the right and Hoosier 3035’s on the left. Teams are reminded that the advanced entry deadline is June 1st, teams entering after the June 1st date will have to pay an additional $25 late entry fee.
