Salem, IN (March 30, 2016) – Berlin Raceway officials have announced some changes in the format for the Battle at Berlin 251 Presented by Primera Plastics for the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS, which will be held at Berlin Raceway on Monday, June 13th. The event has traditionally been a live pit stop race, Berlin officials have decided to change that format for this year’s race, the event will have a 5 minute break at lap 100 and a 5 minute break at lap 200. During those breaks teams will be able to change tires, add fuel and make adjustments. Teams will be relined up how they leave pit road after servicing their car during the breaks.
“We have taken in to consideration the cost that teams incurred by bringing in hired pit crews for the live pit stops and wanted to make the change to help eliminate some of that cost,” remarked Mike Bursley, President of Berlin Raceway. “We also wanted to try and keep some of the excitement of a live pit stop for the crowd, so we will reline up the field after the breaks based upon how the cars leave pit road after they complete their work during each break. We hope by making this change that more teams will be able to compete in this prestigious event!”
The Battle at Berlin 251 will pay $15,000 to win and $1500 to start. The event will be 251 laps counting yellows. The race will be a 10 tire event. 2015 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Champion Erik Jones was the winner of last year’s Battle at Berlin 251 on his way to winning the JEGS/CRA $100,000 Super Late Model Triple Crown. Jones is scheduled to be back at Berlin on June 13th to defend his win.
