Huntersville, North Carolina (Wednesday, June 24, 2015): The thought of racing at Columbus Motor Speedway located in Columbus, Ohio for 17-year-old Hunter Baize is exciting, very exciting. Baize went to victory lane at the tricky (0.333) 1/3-mile racetrack during Memorial Day weekend in 2014, his first JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour victory. Baize currently sits second in the ARCA/CRA Super Series points standings, as well as second in the Rookie of the Year points standings. He scored his first Super Late Model victory on Memorial Day, Monday May 25, 2015, at Illiana Motor Speedway located south of Chicago in the ARCA/CRA Super Series portion of the Calypso Lemonade Chicagoland Showdown. The Kentucky driver is heading to Columbus Motor Speedway (Ohio) this weekend looking to add another trophy to his trophy case.
Going into this weekend’s Bud St. Amant Memorial 125, the driver of the No. 13 Mountaineer All-Natural Firewood Super Late Model is looking to get back on track after his top-five effort at Berlin Raceway (Mich.) was derailed late in the race. Baize knew at some point, something wouldn’t go as planned, he was just hoping that “point” wouldn’t be last weekend during the Battle at Berlin 251 at Berlin Raceway located in Marne, Michigan. He was running in the fifth position when contact between the leaders caused mayhem and a wrecked No. 13 Mountaineer All-Natural Firewood Super Late Model. The Van Doorn Racing Development team recovered nicely to salvage an 18th-place finish.
The 2nd Annual Bud St. Amant Memorial 125, an event honoring Bud St. Amant, at Columbus Motor Speedway (Ohio), is scheduled to be run on Saturday, June 27, 2015. The 125-lap event, an ARCA/CRA Super Series points race, will be race six inthe season-long chase for the ARCA/CRA Super Series Championship. The (0.333) 1/3-mile Columbus Motor Speedway located in Columbus, Ohio is a NASCAR-sanctioned racetrack that hosts a NASCAR K&N Pro Series East event, along with various touring late model series events each season. It’s unique circle shape makes it one of the most challenging venues in all of racing.
“I’m very much excited about heading back to the site of my first career JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour win,” said Baize. “I know we have a great package for Columbus, and our Van Doorn Racing Development crew will bring us a car capable of winning.”
Baize will continue what has been a busy stretch for himself and his No. 13 Hunter Baize Racing team led by brothers Butch and Johnny Van Doorn of Van Doorn Racing Development, when he races at I-44 Speedway located in Lebanon, Mo., on Independence Day, Saturday, July 4, 2015. The Mercy Masters of the Pros 144, an event that was postponed due to weather earlier this season, is a marquee Pro Late Model Event. It will feature some of the best race car drivers in the country. The winner receives a Masters Green Jacket and an impressive $8,000 check.
This season Baize’s Van Doorn Racing Development Pro and Super Late Model race cars will carry sponsorship from Mountaineer All-Natural Firewood, B&K Wood Products, Kawasaki, Wood-Mizer, and Steel City Bolt.
