Charlotte, North Carolina (Tuesday, May 5, 2015): This past weekend, Hunter Baize and his No 13. Hunter Baize Racing team raced at Springport Motor Speedway (MI), and for the second race in a row they had a shot to win. The Mountaineer All-Natural Firewood Ford went on to finish 2nd in the Cabin Fever 100 Presented by JEGS.com.
Following a 4th place finish last weekend at Anderson Speedway (IN) in the ARCA/CRA Super Series, Baize and his team headed to Springport Motor Speedway (MI). They qualified 2nd and started 6th after the invert. Baize worked his way up to 3rd with just a few laps remaining. The leaders got together with two laps to go, bringing out the caution. Despite being the reason for the caution, the leaders got their spots back because series officials deemed their call a mistake and stated they shouldn’t have thrown the caution. Baize restarted 3rd on the final restart and finished 2nd.
“The Cabin Fever 100 was one of the hardest fought race I’ve ever been apart of,” Baize said. “It was very fun mixing it up with JEGS/CRA All-Star Tour teams again. The guys at VRD gave us a very good car, and we were able to pick up a solid second place finish.”
In two weeks, Baize and his Hunter Baize Racing team will head to the tricky Berlin Raceway (MI) for the Berlin 125 on Saturday, May 16, 2015. The event will serve as a tune-up for next month’s Berlin 251, a marquee event during the ARCA/CRA Super Series season. Baize won the fast time award at the track last season with the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance.
This season Baize’s Van Doorn Racing Development Pro and Super Late Model race cars will carry sponsorship from Mountaineer All-Natural Firewood, B & K Wood Products, Kawasaki, Wood-Mizer, and Steel City Bolt.
