Salem, IN (June 21, 2018) – The Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS will be back in action this Saturday at Baer Field Motorsports Park, located just south of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Saturday’s event will be just the second event of the season for the series. The series had their season opening Cabin Fever event at Lucas Oil Raceway canceled because of cold temperatures. Their second scheduled event of the season at Anderson Speedway on April 7th was rescheduled to July 28th, also because of weather.
Saturday’s event will be the series 15th all-time event at Baer Field Motorsports Park. Terry Fisher Jr. won the series first ever event at Baer Field in 2006, and won last year’s event at Baer Field for the Coe Motorsports Team. Tony Dager and Steve Minich Jr. have each won three series events at Baer Field. Chad Richardson has won two series events at Baer Field. Single event winners include the late Al Cook Jr., Billy Hutson, Zach Hulvey and Jason Atkinson.
The Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS kicked off their 2018 season at Mt. Lawn Speedway, on May 27th were Danny Trent went to victory lane after early leader Dave Duncan and second place Shawn Amor got together with both cars suffering damage that ended their nights. Trent went on to get the victory over series rookie Chris Shannon.
Trent is the Championship point’s leader heading into Saturday night’s event. Shannon is in second, three points behind Trent. Kent Carson is in third place, three points behind Shannon. Tony Brutti is in fourth place, two points behind Carson. Rookie Zachary Tinkle is in fifth place, he is two points behind Brutti.
Several local Late Model Sportsman teams that race at Baer Field Motorsports Park are expected to compete against the CRA regulars Saturday night for bragging rights!
Saturday’s race is an excellent opportunity for teams to get laps at Baer Field Motorsports Park prior to the series Triple Crown Series, event their on August 4th. The Triple Crown Series will feature three 100-lap, $2000 to win events, and a points fund that will pay the Triple Crown Champion $1000. There will also be 2 random draw winners for $500 each from all teams that have attended all three Triple Crown events. The Triple Crown Series will make its debut at Mt. Lawn Speedway on July 1st, the second event will be at Anderson Speedway on July 14th and the Championship event at Baer Field Motorsports Park on August 4th.
Pit Gates open on Saturday at 12pm. The first of two practice sessions is set to begin at 1pm for the CRA Late Model Sportsman. Qualifying is set to begin at 4pm. The race program will begin at 6pm and will include a 75 lap feature on the 1/2 mile track for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS. Also racing Saturday night will be the Baer Field Street Stocks, Modifieds, Mini Stocks, Stock Front Wheel drives, and Outlaw Front Wheel Drives.
