Special from DuroByte Motorsports: (August 2, 2018) – The DuroByte Motorsports and 15 year old Ortonville, Michigan teenager Michael Clancy Jr. are ready to hit the track and race in Saturday’s Back 2 School 100 at Auto City Speedway, located in Clio, Michigan, another event close to the teams race shop. With the series June 21st event at Kil-Kare Raceway getting cancelled, it’s been a month since the team has raced.
At the series last event on June 30th at Baer Field Motorsports Park, the team and Clancy Jr. overcame a spin off the backstretch into the tire barrier on lap 68, to come from the back of the field to get a well-deserved fifth place finish, the team’s best finish of the 2018 season, a season plagued with bad luck. For his finish Clancy Jr. earned the FLUIDYNE High Performance Cool Under Pressure Award.
The team hopes to continue the turnaround at one of their home tracks on Saturday. With only two more events left until the Chase for the Championship begins, the team is looking for a win, or consistent good point finishes locking them in to the Chase.
“Auto City is another close to home track for us,” remarked Clancy Jr. “We finally feel like our luck changed at Baer Field so I’m hoping to start getting the finishes we had slip away from us earlier this year. We will proudly be representing NAPA’s dedicated work with the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund this month. We will debut a new hood decal and crew shirts to show our support of such a great organization. “I’m really looking forward to the race at Auto City this weekend,” remarked Jimmy D Smith. “We’ve had several great finishes within reach, but we all feel like our luck is finally making the turn to make these finishes happen. I’m also very excited to have the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund on the hood of the car! As a military veteran myself this means a lot to me.”
The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund serves US Military personnel that suffer from traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress. There are 7 service centers in the United States. In 2017 NAPA presented a check for $2,360,750.00 to the IFHF raised through their “Get Back and Give Back” campaign. This annual campaign first launched in 2012 and has raised an impressive $10 million.
