Special from Team Coe Motorsports
Fort Wayne, IN (August 9, 2019) Austin Coe has been on a bit of a hot streak lately winning the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman race at Baer Field Motorsports Park in convincing style on July 6th and both Twin 25 late model events at Baer Field Motorsports Park August 3rd. Team Coe Motorsports returns to the Anderson Speedway for the August 17th Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman event hoping to rebound from a disappointing finish at the April event. While running comfortably in the top 10, Coe fell out of the race after just 15 laps with a mechanical issue. “The car was on rails and I wasn’t close to pushing it when it just quit. We found the problem but with the track configuration you can’t get into the pit area and back on the track during a caution. I really like the challenge of the banking and the speed on such a short track and it really gets your heart rate going! A long race suits my style so we can move forward. I’ve only run 35 racing laps there but, I’m confident that we’ll be racing for 100 laps.”
They say that prior preparation prevents poor performance and the team has re-focused its efforts in the race shop each week. “Because of the weather and our decision to compete for the CRA championship we haven’t raced every weekend as we have in the past. This makes our time in the shop even more important and staying focused on just what it takes to prepare a car that’s capable of winning. This is the last race before the chase for the championship starts so the momentum will help us going into the next event at Winchester.”
Team Coe Motorsports is now in its 52nd year of competition. With over 130 race wins and both touring and weekly track championships to its credit, Coe is supported by a veteran group of experienced team members. “When we leave the shop, we expect to bring the winning trophy back home. So, if you have that expectation then more is required of your team. Our goal is to win the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman championship.”
