ASA STARS Champ Majeski Wins Snowball Derby

Ty Majeski’s magical racing season continued Sunday afternoon at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, FL.

Majeski, who won the inaugural 2023 ASA STARS National Tour Championship, claimed his second win in four years at the 56th Annual Snowball Derby.

Running 3rd on lap 294, Majeski narrowly avoided a crash with 6 laps to go between leaders Stephen Nasse and Bubba Pollard. Once out front, Majeski held off Gio Ruggiero by 1.042 seconds to claim his second Tom Dawson trophy.

In addition to Ruggiero’s 2nd place finish at the Derby, other drivers with ties to the ASA STARS National Tour included series runner-up Cole Butcher, who finished 4th; Nasse – who rebounded from the late-race incident with Pollard to finish 6th; Pollard was relegated to 19th after the crash; Billy Van Meter – who finished 6th in ASA STARS driver points was 16th; and Michael Hinde – 12th in the final ASA STARS points standings.

Majeski’s season was filled with highs and lows, including three wins in his home state during the ASA STARS National Tour season. The Wisconsin Short Track star inherited the win at the Joe Shear Classic at Madison International Speedway after apparent race winner Danny Fredrickson was disqualified for failing post race technical inspection. But at Milwaukee and Wisconsin International Raceway, Majeski dominated, opening up a 93 point lead in the STARS series with three races to go.

DNF’s at Toledo and Winchester reduced the point margin to just 8 markers heading into the All-American 400 at Nashville, Majeski and the Gearheadz Motorsports team had to overcome a late race crash to limp home to the ASA STARS National Tour Title.

In addition to the STARS championship and wins at Madison, Milwaukee and WIR, Majeski also won the Slinger Nationals in July and the Jim Sauter Classic at Wisconsin Dells in September. He was victorious in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series at Indianapolis Raceway Park, and made the Truck Series playoffs.

Majeski is slated to be honored for his inaugural ASA STARS National Tour Championship this Friday at the Performance Racing Industry trade show in Indianapolis, IN.

ASA STARS National Tour
The ASA STARS National Tour debuted in March 2023 for Super Late Model racing in America. Announced in October 2022, many of the best drivers in America competed in the ten-race national tour with a minimum $100,000 point fund. The championship team earned $25,000.

The ASA STARS National Tour is made up of three races from each of the regional pavement Super Late Model Series under the Track Enterprises banner – the ASA/CRA Super Series, the ASA Midwest Tour and the ASA Southern Super Series.

The Team Construction Winner’s Circle program was announced as a part of the ASA STARS National Tour for licensed drivers/teams with perfect attendance. The program provides additional financial incentives to those teams who support the series.

Track Enterprises, a racing promotions company based in Illinois, operates the ASA STARS National Tour. It announced the acquisition of Champion Racing Association (CRA) in January 2022 and followed that up with the purchase of the Midwest Tour in July. In October, Track Enterprises President Bob Sargent announced a partnership with the Southern Super Series, which set the table for the formation of the ASA STARS National Tour.
