Salem, IN. (September 11, 2018) – The ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS will continue its Chase for the Championship this Saturday, as part of the 30th running of the Central Transport Glass City 200 presented by the Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn and Courtyard by Marriott at Toledo Speedway, located in Toledo, Ohio. This will be the second straight that the ARCA/CRA Super Series has been part of this prestigious event that will feature the ARCA/CRA Super Series in a 100 lap feature event and the ARCA Outlaw Late Models in a 100 lap feature event.
Both features will pay $5,000 to win and $800 to start, with a total purse of over $60,000. There will also be $500 in lap leader bonus money for Saturday’s ARCA/CRA Super Series event awarded by Toledo Speedway, with $5 per lap going to each lap leader. The track is still seeking partners to sponsor the lap leader bonuses, interested parties should contact Toledo Speedway at 419-727-1100.
Josh Brock and Senneker Performance Rookie of the Year point’s leader Austin Kunert are currently tied for the lead in the 2018 Chase for the Championship points of the six drivers trying to win the series 2018 Championship. With non-Chase drivers Johnny VanDoorn winning the series 2018 Chase for the Championship opener at Kalamazoo Speedway on August 8th and Jeff Fultz winning the second Chase event at Winchester Speedway on September 3rd, points will be very important in Saturday’s Toledo Event Chase event, as only the top four drivers, or top three if one of the six Chase drivers wins Saturday, will get to compete for the series 2018 Championship in the Winchester 400.
Hunter Jack is currently in third place, he is 20 points behind Brock and Kunert. Fellow rookie Jon Beach is in fourth place, he is eight points behind Jack. 2017 series Champion and Rookie of the Year Logan Runyon is in fifth place, he is 16 points behind Beach. Greg Van Alst is in sixth place, he is 12 points behind Runyon. All six of the Chase drivers are entered for Saturday’s event.
The series Toledo June 29th event winner Brian Campbell is entered. Campbell has picked up two other series wins this season, including the Money in the Bank 150 on June 11thand the Baer Field Motorsports Park event on July 28th. Campbell is now second in all-time series wins to series all-time winner and three time series Champion Scott Hantz, who is also entered for Saturday’s event. Hantz has 31 series wins to date, while Campbell has 27.
Three time ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion Johnny VanDoorn is also entered. VanDoorn is the defending winner of this event from last season. VanDoorn will also make a rare appearance in an Outlaw Late Model car on Saturday as he does double duty in the Central Transport Glass City 200.
Other top CRA drivers entered include Kyle Crump, who led the first 90 laps of the Labor Day Winchester event before a slow leaking tire forced him to pit road ending his day, Harold Fair Jr. who won a Toledo Speedway ARCA/CRA Super Series event 18 years ago, Jordon Pruitt will make his 2018 series debut, multi-time Shadybowl Speedway feature winner Josh Smith, John Long and Mike Mazzagatti in their second series events of the season and JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour competitors Trever McCoy and Hayden Sprague.
Former Toledo Outlaw Late Model and ARCA Racing Series competitor Michael Simko is entered to race Saturday night. Simko will be making his fourth series start of the 2018 season. Toledo Outlaw Late Model driver Nick Grodi is also entered, Grodi has run a limited schedule with the ARCA/CRA Super Series in 2018 and will also compete in the Outlaw Late Model portion of the Glass City 200 Saturday night.
California racer Tyler Ankrum is entered. Ankrum is the current point’s leader in the NASCAR K & N Pro East Series and has three wins so far this season with that series. Ankrum finished a series best of second in the June series race at Toledo.
Wisconsin hot shoe Dennis Prunty will travel south to compete in Saturday’s event. Prunty won the 2015 Slinger nationals at Slinger Speedway and scored an ARCA Midwest Tour win in 2016. His best series finish was a fourth at Anderson Speedway in May of 2016, he finished ninth in the June Toledo event.
On Friday, September 14th, there will be optional rig parking from 6 pm to 7pm. There will be no unloading of equipment on Friday.
Race day begins on Saturday with pit registration opening at 9:30, then pit gates will open at 10am. Practice will go from 2pm to 4pm on a rotating basis for the two late model groups for a total of 60 minutes each. Qualifying will begin at 5pm. An on-track autograph session will take place at 6pm with racing beginning at 7pm. The rain date if needed is Sunday, September 16th.
