ARCA/CRA Super Series Overall & Rookie Points Leader, 16-Year-Old Grant Quinlan Rejoining JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour

Site of last win, Springport Motor Speedway next race on 2015 schedule

Harrison, Michigan (Wednesday, April 29, 2015): Coming off of the first two races of the 2015 racing season in the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS, 16-year-old Grant Quinlan is off to a fast start in the premier tour within Champion Racing Association (CRA) Powered by JEGS. Finishes of third at Toledo Speedway (OH) on April 11th and his most recent outing, an eighth place showing at Anderson Speedway (IN) on April 26th has Quinlan sitting on top of both the Overall and Rookie of the Year point standings.

In the last race, the Madison County Community Health Center 125 at the fast 1/4 (0.250) mile high-banked paved oval in Anderson, Indiana, Quinlan ran in the top five for the majority of the race until a cut tire late in the event relegated him to an eighth place showing. “We had a good race car, qualified our Chevrolet SS second quick and in the race it was real good, especially at the end,” Offered the Great Lakes State teenager.

“I was running second and trying to pass for the lead, I moved the 23 (Eddie Van Meter) car a bit in turn two, I wasn’t trying to wreck him, just get him up out the way a bit, he did a good job and got back by me in three, he’s a tough competitor,” Explained Quinlan. “I know he wasn’t happy with me, he gestured out the window on the back side then got into me under caution, after that we had a right rear going down, I only had three Hoosier tires to finish on and we brought it home eighth, it was a hand full those last few laps. Congratulations to him and his team on the win.” He added.

The next race on the 2015 schedule is back to where it all began for the Harrison, Michigan teenager. The site of his first ever start in a Late Model. The fast 3/8s (0.375) mile semi-banked paved oval of Springport Motor Speedway will host the 2015 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance season opener: the Cabin Fever 100 Presented by JEGS.com on Sunday, May 3rd. “Racing with the ARCA/CRA guys teaches me more and more every week. We will go to Springport and see if we can repeat what we did there last September.” He ended.

Quinlan was awarded the Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie of the Year title in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour during the 2014 racing season. He rewrote the record books in a number of ways during his freshman campaign in JEGS/CRA. In addition to finishing third in points, just two markers behind 2014 Runner-Up, Josh Nelms, he also collected two victories, the most of any rookie driver in JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour history. Those wins came at Salem Speedway (IN) on June 21st and at Springport Motor Speedway (MI) on September 20th.

He also registered six top five finishes and seven top 10 showings as well as two Boyne Machine Company Fast Qualifier Awards, also the most by a freshman in series history. Those top qualifier awards came at Angola Motorsport Speedway (IN) on July 5th and at Springport on September 20th. In the rookie battle, Quinlan beat fellow freshman, Dalton Armstrong by 37 points in the overall standings, the closest margin in the tours’ four-year history.

For the rest of the 2015 racing season, Quinlan will make a run at the Rookie of the Year title and the overall championship in the ARCA/CRA Super Series. The team will also make select appearances back in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour as well as other Super Late Model events around the country.
