Teams Prepare for Battle at Berlin 251

Salem, Indiana (Tuesday, May 12, 2015): The ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS will head to Berlin Raceway located in Marne, Michigan for this Saturday’s Berlin 125, which will be the 20th ARCA/CRA Super Series event that the tricky 7/16 mile facility has hosted. Berlin has always been known for its talented local drivers and very knowledgeable and passionate race fans. As usual Saturday’s event will pit the best from the ARCA/CRA Super Series against the best local drivers from Berlin’s Boyne Machine Super Late Model Division.
Saturday will be a great opportunity for the ARCA/CRA Super Series teams to get some racing at Berlin prior to the Battle at Berlin 251 and its $100,000 plus purse on Tuesday, June 16th, which will be the first leg in the JEGS/CRA $100,000 Super Late Model Triple Crown. This Saturday’s race will also have some extra incentive thanks to Port City Racecars, who have put up an extra $500 to win, as well as $250 for the second, third, fourth and fifth place finishers in bonus purse money.
Topping the list of entries for Saturday’s event is local sensation Brian Campbell, who comes into the event with the most ARCA/CRA Super Series victories at Berlin with six, including a victory in this event last May. Campbell will race in selected series events in 2015 while competing for the Berlin’s Boyne Machine Company Super Late Model Championship, were he won the season opener on May 2nd. Campbell also won the ARCA/CRA Super Series 2015 season opener at Toledo Speedway on April 11th.
Current series point’s leader Grant Quinlan tops the list of CRA regulars entered for Saturday’s event. Quinlan is also leading the Senneker Performance Rookie of the Year points after two series events in 2015. Also entered is fellow rookie Hunter Baize, who is second in series Championship points and rookie points to Quinlan coming into Saturday’s race.
Other Top CRA regulars who are also entered include 2013 and 2014 series Champion Travis Braden, also 2013 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Champion and current ARCA Racing Series part-time racer Cody Coughlin, Eddie Van Meter, winner of the series last event at Anderson Speedway on April 26th, 2014 Senneker Performance Rookie of the Year Wes Griffth Jr., Nick Gullatta as well as series rookies Mark Lambert, Matt Hall, Jordan Pruitt and Tom Woodin. Also entered is current JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour points leader Dalton Armstrong, who picked up his first ever series victory in the series 2015 season opener at Springport Motor Speedway on May 3rd, and former JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour competitor Corey Deuser.
Several top local drivers are entered including CRA part-time competitor Terry Senneker who finished second in this event last May and finished second to Brian Campbell at the series season opener at Toledo Speedway, and has been a dominant force in Outlaw Late Model competition in the area for several years including a victory at Berlin Raceway on April 18th. Also former CRA Berlin winner Terry Van Haitsma and Berlin regulars Jay Niewiek, a former fulltime CRA competitor, Chris Anthony, Joe Bush, his daughter Lauren, Dave Lake, Alec Carll and Will Omstead.
There is an open practice scheduled for Friday with pits opening at 3pm, practice will go from 4 to 8pm. Pit gates open on Saturday for “Educator Appreciation Night” at 12:30pm. Practice will begin at 3pm with qualifying for the ARCA/CRA Super Series at 5pm. There is an autograph session scheduled to begin at 5:30pm, the race program will begin at 6:30pm and will include the Berlin 125 for the ARCA/CRA Super Series along with racing action from the Berlin Raceway Sportsman, Modifieds and 4 cylinder divisions.
