Outlaw Super Late Model start at Dixie Motor Speedway followed by JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour race at Auto City Speedway
Clio, Michigan (Thursday, August 6, 2014): Trevor Berry has been able to make the most of his limited appearances during the 2015 racing season. In three JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance starts, he has one top five finish, an impressive third at one of his two home tracks, Dixie Motor Speedway (MI) back on July 10th as well as two top 10s and a Track Record, which he set in his last JEGS/CRA race at Berlin Raceway (MI) on August 1st. In addition, he has a single start in his Outlaw bodied Super Late Model and recorded a fourth place effort, which also came at Dixie.
There’s no place like home for any driver and the chance to race at your two hometown tracks on back to back days is something that most drivers rarely get a chance to do. For the 22-year-old standout, that opportunity comes on Friday, August 7th at Dixie and on Saturday, August 8th at his second home track, Auto City Speedway (MI). Starting at Dixie, Berry will make the short trip to Birch Run, Michigan for Big One XIII and take part in the Main Event Racing Series appearance at the 4/10s (0.400) mile progressively banked paved oval in the running of the Draper Toyota 100.
“Pretty excited to get back to Dixie this weekend, we had a really good car last time out and we’re hoping to put together a solid top five run and if we have a shot at the end go after it,” Smiled the Clio, Michigan driver as he prepares for just his second career start behind the wheel of the wedge bodied Super Late Model.
Then less than 24 hours later on Saturday, August 8th, Berry makes the short five minute drive to Auto City for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour appearance at the tricky 0.393 mile semi-banked paved oval in his hometown of Clio, Michigan for the Dog Days of Summer 100 Presented by JEGS.com. “I’m sure Auto City will be an emotional day for me. It was the last race my Grandma ever had the chance to see me run.” Offered Berry.
“We’ve had great support from Chad Finley and Chad Finley Developments this year and it’s been a game changer. We had a pretty good car last year but with his help I think it’ll put us over the top.” Continued the Wolverine State competitor. “Looking forward to being back home this weekend. I grew up at Dixie and Auto City, I hope the stands are packed like last time and we can put on a good show for the fans, my family and friends.” He ended.
After this weekend, Berry will then race at the famed 1/2 mile of Toledo Speedway (OH) on Friday, August 14th for the ARCA Gold Cup Outlaw Super Late Model Series season finale, which is also a combination race with the Main Event Racing Series. The Miller Lite 100 will also serve as the final tune-up for the prestigious 27th Running of the Glass City 200 on Saturday, September 19th. The next race for Berry Racing in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour will be on Saturday, August 29th at Owosso Speedway (MI).
Berry began his racing career in Quarter Midgets and raced in the scaled down machines from 2002-2005. He was the 2002 Rookie of the Year Waterford Speedway and during his time in the class earned two Mid-Michigan Racing Association Driver of the Year awards. In 2005, he collected four championships; Light 160 MMRA Champion, Senior Honda MMRA Champion, Light 160 Region 4 Champion and Light 160 Tri-City Champion. During his Quarter Midget career he scored over Feature Wins including the Motor City Meltdown in 2003, the Rumble in Fort Wayne Indoor Light 160 Feature and the 2005 Buckeye Winter Nationals Light 160 title.
In 2005 he also started racing Bandoleros and won three features in seven starts including the K.O.I.L Tour Nationals at Kentucky Motor Speedway. The quick move up to Micro Sprints was the plan for 2006 and from then until 2009 he scored over 20 Feature wins at various tracks in Michigan, Indiana and Illinois including the restrictor nationals at US24 Speedway in Logansport, Indiana.
His first full-sized race car experience came in the open-wheeled Modifieds starting in 2010 and in 2011; he scored two Feature Wins and seven Fast Qualifier Awards. The 2012 campaign would see Berry capture the ICAR Top Speed Modified Tour Championship as well as the Non-Winged Sprints Track championship and Rookie of the Year title at Spartan Speedway (MI). Between the two classes and in 23 Starts that year, he racked up seven Feature Wins, 19 top fives and an impressive 21 top 10s.
In 2013 he competed primarily with the MSA Supermodifieds Series and picked up one Fast Qualifier Award as well as four top fives and six top 10s. Then the 2014 racing season would see Berry make three appearances in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour, two races with the MSA Supermodifieds and one race back with the ICAR Top Speed Modified Tour. He would make the most of his lone ICAR Modified appearance with a victory at one of his two home tracks, Auto City Speedway.
For the rest of the 2015 racing season, Berry’s focus will be on his Outlaw Super Late Model as well as his JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour machine, both of which are Port City Racecars chassis. Both cars will carry sponsorship decals and support Extreme Indoor Kart Racing as well as Clio Computers, Driven Racing Oil, Racing2Cure.org, Davis Racing Equipment, Andrea’s Place Styling Salon, M.P.H.
