Owners Championship still up for Grabs
Salem, Indiana (Monday, October 5, 2015): The 2015 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance season will come to a conclusion this Friday as the Winchester 100 for the series, will kick off the huge 44th Annual Winchester 400 Weekend, that will conclude on Sunday afternoon with ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS in the 44th Annual Winchester 400. Friday’s event will be the tenth time the series has visited the famous High Banks, event defending winner Travis Braden, Chase Elliott and Trent Snyder are all tied for the most series wins at Winchester with two apiece.
21 year old Dalton Armstrong needs to merely start the race to claim the 2015 Drivers Championship with the series. Armstrong has two series wins so far this season, he won the series season opener at Springport Motor Speedway back on May 3rd, his first ever CRA win, and won the August 8th event at Auto City Speedway. With his fourth place finish at the CRA Fall Brawl event on September 27th, Armstrong and the Scott Neal Racing team have also taken over the 2015 Owners Championship Points lead going into Friday’s season Championship race.
The Bill Burba Motorsports team is in second in the Owners Championship Points, but by only four points, heading to Winchester were driver Travis Braden feels very comfortable. Braden has driven the last eight races for that team after Mike Stacy competed in the first two series events of the season. Braden started from the tail of the Lucas Oil Raceway event after he missed qualifying, because he competed in the rain delayed ARCA Racing Series event that day at Kentucky Speedway, where he came away with a second place finish. Braden was able to come from the rear and get a ninth place finish, but that was far enough back for Scott Neal Racing to take the Owners Championship Points lead.
Other top CRA drivers entered for Friday night’s event include Series veteran Josh Nelms, who is currently second in series driver points with one win on the season on May 23rd at Columbus Motor Speedway. Also entered is VanDoorn Racing Development Rookie driver Quinnton Bear, who is third in driver points, only three points behind Nelms. By taking the green flag Friday night, Bear will be crowned the 2015 Howie Lettow Rookie of the Year Presented by VanDoorn Racing Development.
Other top series drivers entered include Winchester Speedway Labor Day Weekend and Lucas Oil Raceway CRA Fall Brawl series event winner Jack Smith, father and son Andy and Phil Bozell, Canadian brothers Marc and Jaxson Jacobs, rookie Austin Kunert, 2014 series Champion and winner at Dixie Motor Speedway on July 10th Dan Leeck, Canadian Tristan Van Wieringen, and part-time series competitors Kyle Hayden, Robbie Johnson, Trevor Berry, Jon Beach, Cole Rouse, Tim Greene, Colin Nickolai, Kyle Purvis and ARCA/CRA Super Series veteran driver Eddie Van Meter, who picked up his first series win in his first series start at Anderson Speedway on July 17th.
ARCA Racing Series Presented by Menards competitor Bo LeMastus from Louisville, Kentucky is entered to compete in Friday night’s event, it will be the second series event he has entered in 2015.
