2012 CRA Street Stock Series Champion, Jimmy Kirby Returns To Victory Lane At Lucas Oil Raceway

LOR Stock Car Series Presented by Visit Hendricks County kicks off Independence Day Weekend

 

Brownsburg, Indiana (Friday, July 3, 2015): The Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stock Series Presented by JEGS.com returned to the immaculate Lucas Oil Raceway for the tracks LOR Stock Car Series Presented by Visit Hendricks County on Friday, July 3rd. The fast 0.686 mile progressively banked paved oval located west of Indianapolis in Brownsburg, Indiana served as hosts of the LOR Fourth Of July 30 which was also the second race for the CRA SSS at LOR and seventh race overall of the 2015 racing season for the series.

 

The 30-lap main would see 2012 CRA Street Stock Series Champion, Jimmy Kirby grabbed the lead away from Jason Thompson with 13 laps to go and from there, the Indianapolis, Indiana veteran in his #11 U.S.A. Tires / Barlow Auto Parts / Chevrolet drove away to a convincing victory. It was the 42-year-old drivers’ fourth career CRA SSS win and first since September 22nd, 2013 also at LOR during the 2013 CRA Fall Brawl. His other two career victories both came at near-by Anderson Speedway back on September 15th, 2012 and again on September 14th, 2013. Kirby also earned the AR Bodies Cool Move of the Race award as well as the T.C.I. Automotive Hard-Charger award after starting seventh.

 

Thompson, who led the first 17 laps did hang on to finish second in his #28 WeAreInsulators.org / Chevrolet and with his runner-up showing, takes over the points lead in the LOR Stock Car Series Presented by Visit Hendricks County. The Shirley, Indiana competitor will now carry a slim three-point lead over Kirby heading into the next event, which is the big LOR 125 back at the Circle City speed plant on Friday, July 31st.

 

Jake McElfresh continues his impressive strong start to the 2015 season with his third podium finish of the year, a third in his #3 Matrix Computers Chevrolet. The 25-year-old from Elwood, Indiana is now third in both the overall CRA Street Stock Series points standings as well as in the LOR Stock Car Series Presented by Visit Hendricks County. All three of his top five finishes have been a third with two of those coming at LOR.

 

Finishing in the fourth spot would be 15-year-old Mason Keller in his #29 Steve Keller Tri-Axle Trucking / Chevrolet. The Plainfield, Indiana teenager would take advantage of his finishing position and has moved into the top five in fifth place in the overall season long points standings. Veteran Phil Jenkins completed the top five in his #55 Jenkins Auto Repair Professionals / Chevrolet. The 52-year-old from Greenfield, Indiana tied his career high finish, also a fifth, which he earned back on September 6th, 2014 at near-by Anderson Speedway.

 

2014 Rookie of the Year, 14-year-old James Kirby III, the event winners son, finished in sixth position while Robert Amos Sr., was scored in seventh spot. Josh Poore came home in eight position, which was good enough to move him to second overall in points. T.J. Flynn, in his first appearance of the season, came home in ninth as Matt Clark was the highest finishing rookie in the main and would complete the top 10.

 

Earlier in Allstar Performance Qualifying, Colby Lane picked up his fourth award of the season as he turned in a 26.698 which equals out to 92.501mph. The CRA SSS Track Record at LOR remains a 25.837 which was set back on October 1st, 2011 by Dave Bice. Also earlier in the evening in the special Preliminary Heat Races, Thompson and Flynn would take the checkered flags respectively in those events.

 

The Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stock Series Powered by JEGS returns to Lucas Oil Raceway on Friday, July 31st for the extended distance LOR 125. In 11 total CRA Street Stock Series all-time appearances in the Circle City, Kirby as well as 2011 Series Champion, Jeff Lane and  veteran Dave Bice all have two victories on the massive oval while Colby Lane picked up a win in the first LOR appearance back on April 24th. In addition, 2014 Champion, Jason Atkinson, Beau Mitchell, Rick Erwin and Frank Kimmel II each have a single trip to victory lane.
