Soon to be crowned Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie of the Year to run Port City Racecars House Car in 2016
Avon, Indiana (Wednesday, October 7, 2015): As the 2015 racing season comes to a close, Quinnton Bear has been one of the most talked about drivers in the country. Impending honors are waiting for the 19-year-old driver from Avon, Indiana at the conclusion of the final race of the fifth anniversary 2015 racing season within the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance. As soon as the Quinnton Bear Racing Team hauler enters the grounds at Winchester Speedway (IN) for the Winchester 100 Presented by JEGS.com, Bear will officially clinch the coveted Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie of the Year title for the premier template bodied / crate motor tour in the country.
In the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour, Bear will clinch the top freshman award as soon as his hauler enters the grounds for the JEGS/CRA portion of the 44th Running of the Winchester 400 Race Weekend on Friday, October 9th. In addition, he has a chance at taking the overall runner-up position in the driver’s final points standings as he is just three points back of current second place driver, Josh Nelms. He also has a shot at a podium finish of third in the final owners points standings as those same three markers behind Nelms are all that stand in his way.
“Completing the 2015 season at Winchester Speedway; Wouldn’t have it any other way.” Beamed the Hoosier State teenager. “The 94 was strong there a few weeks ago, just had an unfortunate event losing a right front tire that ended our day. Looking forward to going back there to possibly get some redemption and end the season with a good run. It would be nice to finish second overall while wrapping up the rookie title. That was the primary goal next to winning races coming into this season and we got it done.”
“Not having to worry about the rookie title will take a little bit of my shoulders.” Continued Bear as he and his Quinnton Bear Racing Team continue preparations for the weekend in Eastern Indiana. “But heading to my favorite race track has me anxious and excited for a win for this 94 team who have worked so hard this year, but just haven’t had it go our way to win a race. We’ll see what we can do at the high banks of Winchester Speedway.”
Overall in 11 total starts, Bear has recorded five top five finishes, all within the last seven JEGS/CRA races including a season high second place at Dixie Motor Speedway (MI) on July 10th in the Dixie 100 Presented by JEGS.com, that finish began the stretch of strong finishes for the Hoosier State teenager. He also has six top 10 finishes and is only driver during the fifth anniversary 2015 season to have competed in every JEGS/CRA race this year which includes the non-points SpeedFest 2015 back in January at Watermelon Capital Speedway (GA).
His accolades and accomplishments throughout the 2015 racing season haven’t gone unnoticed. For the 2016 campaign, Quinnton Bear Racing and Port City Racecars have teamed up to put Bear into the coveted slot behind the wheel of the famed Port City Racecars House Car for a run at the 2016 ARCA/CRA Super Series Championship and Rookie of the Year titles. With backing and support from the esteemed Muskegon, Michigan based chassis builders, Bear will concentrate on Champion Racing Association (CRA) Powered by JEGS premier tour starting next season with the possibility of more events to be added before and after the 2016 CRA campaign.
“The opportunity to team up with Port City Racecars and for Quinnton to become the house driver for the upcoming 2016 ARCA/CRA season is a dream come true for us.” Stated proud Father, Fred Bear. “Port City is for sure a powerhouse in circle track racing and for sure builds some rockets on the track. Port City Racecars have been around for many years and for the company to recognize the talents of Quinnton is awesome. We are so happy for Quinnton to see his hard work on the track and off the track finally being noticed in a big way. I know my wife, Tina and I are very blessed to see our son have the opportunity to continue his racing dream with the support of Port City. We are so proud of him and we are behind him 100% in his racing.” The elder Bear remarked.
“We’re very excited to team up with Quinnton Bear for the 2016 racing season. We’re looking forward to making a run at the 2016 ARCA/CRA Super Series championship and rookie titles. He has a ton of talent and we can’t wait to put him in our equipment,” Added Zach Dunson, Head of Shock Department and Racetrack Support for Port City. “He has proven throughout the year how much he has matured as a driver and his talent speaks for itself. We’re very happy to have Quinnton join the Port City family beginning in 2016.” He added.
Bear has made four ARCA/CRA Super Series starts in 2015 as two of those have come behind the wheel of the Travis Braden Motorsports #01 West Virginia University ride and two in his own JEGS/CRA legal car utilizing a crate motor. In those four races, Bear has been impressive in recording two top five finishes with a career high second place finish during Kalamazoo Klash XXIII in the Boyne Machine Company 125 at Kalamazoo Speedway (MI) on August 12th. He also has three top 10 showings and with only five total ARCA/CRA races on his resume, including one start in 2014, Bear is able to keep his 2016 Rookie eligibility intact for the full schedule next season in the Port City Racecars House Car.
For the final JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour race of the 2015 racing season, Bear’s black #94 Sparco / Buzze Racing / Chevrolet will have additional sponsorship support from Bear’s Lawn Service as well as Bassett Racing Wheels, PGG Enterprises, McGunegill Engine Performance and M.P.H. Promotions. After the JEGS/CRA finale, Bear and crew will make the return trip to Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville (TN) on October 16-18th for the rescheduled 31st Running of the All-American 400 which was postponed from the October 2-4th rainout. After Nashville, one to two more events are also possible.
