Springport Motor Speedway to begin 2015 Championship chase for Buckeye State teenager
Corunna, Michigan (Thursday, April 30, 2015): After nearly a month of extensive testing at Springport Motor Speedway (MI), site of the 2015 season opener for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance, 16-year-old Kody Evans is ready to take on the cars and stars of the fifth year tour. The Cabin Fever 100 Presented by JEGS.com is set for Sunday, May 3rd at the fast 3/8s (0.375) mile semi-banked paved oval located north of Jackson and south of Lansing in Springport, Michigan will kick off the 2015 campaign for the Template Bodied / Crate Motor series.
“Springport is one of my favorite tracks. I have very high expectations for this weekend.” Stated the Camden, Ohio driver as he and his DuroByte Motorsports Team prepare for the full 2015 schedule within the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour. “We got the car dialed in and we’ve all improved and grown together a bunch since we last raced in Georgia in January. We should definitely have a very solid run this weekend. I can’t wait to get this season officially started.” He added.
In Evans last race, way back on January 25th during SpeedFest 2015 at the fast 4/10s (0.400) mile semi-banked paved oval of Watermelon Capital Speedway, located south of Macon and north of the Florida / Georgia state line in Cordele, Georgia, this was the first outing for Evans and DuroByte together. As the team worked together for the first time, Crew Chief, Jimmy D. Smith, the entire team and Evans gelled right away and although the results didn’t show the progress, the team was very happy with the entire weekend.
After racing in Go-Karts since he was four years old, including a championship at just eight years old, Evans made his first start in a full-sized stock car at just 13 years old. In 2013 at 14, Evans ran full-time in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour where he finished sixth in a loaded Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie of the Year class. He also grabbed a 10th place finish overall in the points standings which include one top five finish, an impressive fourth at the famed high-banks of Salem Speedway (IN) to go with four top 10s. In 2014 in limited appearances in JEGS/CRA, he collected three top 10s, all seventh place finishes which were at Salem, Winchester Speedway (IN) and Lucas Oil Raceway (IN).
For the rest of the 2015 racing season, Evans’ #4G DuroByte Motorsports / Ford will carry sponsorship support and decals from Performance Transport as well as Adesa Auto Auctions, Nalett Trucking, L&T Clutches, Howe Racing Enterprises, JEGS.com, Keyser Manufacturing, Fastenal Corporation, Phil Harper Motorsports by Ilmor, AR Bodies, and M.P.H.
