Ohio teenager and Michigan based team ready to turn season around
Corunna, Michigan (Wednesday, July 8, 2015): It’s been a season of trial and error so far for 16-year-old Kody Evans and his DuroByte Motorsports team. A 15th place finish at Columbus Motor Speedway (OH) back on May 23rd is no indication of how talented the entire team is nor how much the team has gelled since SpeedFest 2015 back on January 25th at Watermelon Capital Speedway (GA). Everyone within the organization knows it’s just a matter of time before everything comes together and the strong finishes start coming. Perhaps even a win will be in the cards as well.
The Camden, Ohio teenager’s last race was on the Fourth of July at the fast 3/8s (0.375) mile progressively banked paved oval of Lebanon I-44 Speedway. The immaculate facility, located southwest of St. Louis in Lebanon, Missouri hosted one of the biggest Pro Late Model races in the country; the 3rd Annual Mercy Masters of the Pros 144 Presented by JEGS.com. A strong 39-car field was on hand and Evans qualified a solid 15th locking himself into the show.
Unfortunately during the race, gremlins continued to plague the efforts of the Buckeye State driver as he was forced to drop out of the event with a broken right front wheel and drivetrain damage which occurred during the race. “After a rough few races not finishing any of them due to mechanical issues we have it figured out and I have faith that our luck is turning around this weekend at Dixie.” Predicted Evans. Despite a 28th place finish, Evans actually moved up the standings and is in the top 10 for the first time this season as he sits 10th.
Evans and the crew won’t have much time to reflect on what might have been in the Show-Me State as the Dixie 100 Presented by JEGS.com is next on Friday, July 10th. the fast 4/10s (0.400) mile progressively banked paved oval of Dixie Motor Speedway, located north of Flint and south of Saginaw in Birch Run, Michigan will host the event, which is being promoted by Motor City Racing Promotions. Evans has never seen the facility before, but his DuroByte Motorsports Team has plenty of experience at the track.
For the rest of the 2015 racing season, Evans’ #4G DuroByte Motorsports / Ford will carry sponsorship support and decals from Performance Transport as well as Adesa Auto Auctions, Nalett Trucking, L&T Clutches, Howe Racing Enterprises, JEGS.com, Keyser Manufacturing, Fastenal Corporation, Phil Harper Motorsports by Ilmor, AR Bodies, and M.P.H. Promotions.
