Event to Feature Bobby Jacks Memorial Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Open Challenge Event
Salem, IN (March 3, 2021) – The 10th Annual CRA Cabin Fever Championships has a new location for 2021, the event will now be contested at Kil-Kare Raceway, located just outside of Xenia, Ohio on Sunday, April 11th . That event will be one of three racing events on the 3/8’s mile oval in 2021 that will involve CRA. The 10th Annual CRA Cabin Fever Championships will also feature the season opening events for the Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks and the Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior late Models, as well as the second race of the 2021 season for the Vore’s Compact Touring Series.
The event will feature the Bobby Jack’s Memorial 71, the season opening event for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS. Bobby Jacks of Dayton, Ohio was a prominent Stock Car racer, whose ARCA Menards Series career included four wins, seven pole qualifying awards and six top-10 finishes from 1979-1988, died at age 75 on Jan. 18, 2021. Jacks raced out of the Dayton, Ohio, suburb of Huber Heights and drove primarily for owner Mike Redfern and the Combined Racing team, driving red, white and blue No. 71 Oldsmobile’s that were meticulously prepared and winning numerous ARCA awards for best appearing car and crew.
The Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman event on April 11th will be the first of two that CRA officials have worked out as an Open Challenge format to bring the best Late Model Sportsman drivers from the Midwest together for two Open Late Model Sportsman Challenge events at Kil-Kare Raceway. In the spirit of trying to make things work for multiple rule packages, but still remembering it is a points event for CRA regulars, officials have worked to build a set of rules for the event with compromise between CRA Rules and Area Late Model Rules. Those Open Late Model Sportsman Challenge events will pay $1,200 to win, plus a $500 bonus if the same driver can win both events and two $250 random draw bonuses from the drivers that compete in both events. The second Open Late Model Sportsman Challenge event at Kil-Kare Raceway will be held on Sunday, July 25th.
The Bobby Jack’s Memorial 71 will feature extra payout for all competitors from Platinum Express/Platinum Motorsports, including a $71 cash bonus to every driver competing in the event and $171 cash bonus to the events Fast Qualifier and a $171 cash bonus for a Hardcharger Award to the driver advancing the most positions in the event. Some of Bobby’s old team will be present for the race and will be involved in all pre-race ceremony and victory lane ceremonies. The winner of the Bobby Jack’s Memorial 71 will receive a personalized memorial banner from the organizers of the Bobby Jack’s Memorial 71.
On Sunday April 11th pit gates will open at 10:00am. Practice will begin at 12noon. Qualifying will begin at 2:30pm. The race program is set to begin at 4pm with a 20 lap B-Main for the Vores Compact Touring Series, then the 30-lap feature for the Victory Custom Trailer CRA Junior Late Models, then the 35 lap A-Main for the Vores Compact Touring Series, followed by the 75 lap Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks season opener. The Bobby Jack’s Memorial 71 season opening event for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman will close out the day of racing.
