West Coast Star Derek Thorn Set for 54th Running of the Winchester 400

Winchester, Ind. – California standout Derek Thorn has officially filed his entry for the 54th Annual Winchester 400, one of the crown jewels of Super Late Model racing. The grueling 400-lap classic is set for Sunday, October 12 at the legendary Winchester Speedway and will be sanctioned by the ASA STARS National Tour.

Thorn, from Bakersfield, California, is regarded as one of the best short track drivers from the West Coast. A Snowball Derby winner and six-time Spears Southwest Tour Champion, Thorn has built a career defined by consistency, speed, and dominance in big events. He is also a two time ARCA Menards Series West Champion and has won big events on the West Coast like the Summer Showdown at Evergreen Speedway, Winter Showdown at Kern County Raceway Park and the Madera Short Track Shootout at Madera Speedway.


The 54th Running of the Winchester 400 presented by Vore’s Welding and Steel takes place on Sunday, October 12, 2025 at Winchester Speedway. Racing action kicks off on Friday night with the CRA JEGS All Stars Tour while Saturday features ASA STARS National Tour Practice, CorvetteParts.Net Pole Qualifying as well as racing action including the Modifieds, CRA Street Stocks and CRA Late Model Sportsman.
