The latest came on Thursday when he was announced as a recipient of the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Sargent at the 2024 National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in August, in Florence, KY. The award recognizes those who have reached great achievements through a lifelong commitment to the sport of Dirt Late Model racing.

“These Lifetime Achievement awards are something that we work through each year. We pour over information and research about potential candidates to make sure that we get it right. These are awards for people that might not reach the Hall of Fame through traditional means but that are worthy of being honored and recognized among their peers,” said NDLMHoF President Gerald Newton.

Sargent, who began as a racing promoter in 1985 when he took the reins of his local dirt track, Macon Speedway, in Macon, IL.
