Sealed Engine Alliance Leaders (S.E.A.L.) Gather for Dyno Review of Super Late Engine Packages

Sealed Engine Alliance Leaders (S.E.A.L.) came together Wednesday morning (12‐10‐25) to dyno Super Late engine packages used at last weekend’s Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway.

Following last Sunday’s race, S.E.A.L. and race officials took one sealed engine and three “Parts” Engines from three different builders. Included in these four engines were the engines of the event’s first place finisher Stephen Nasse built by Robbie White, second place finisher Dawson Sutton built by Jeff Hamner, as well as the engine from the events most dominant car built by DeWaine McGunegill and driven by Ty Majeski, and the engine from the seasons most dominate car built by Jeremy Upchurch and driven by Cole Butcher.

Officials taking part in the dyno evaluation were S.E.A.L.’s Co‐Chairman Greg Wood, CARS Super Late Model Tour West’s Series Director Chris Wright, S.E.A.L.’s Engine Technical Consultant Rick Davis and ASA’s Chief Technical Inspector Freddie Query. Additionally, the engine builder from each team whose engine was tested was present. The engines were run on the dyno at the independent facility of Robert Yates Racing Engines with their staff overseeing all of the processes.

The effort to check these engines had multiple purposes. One was to verify they were in compliance with the guidelines set forth for these engines. Another was to gather more data to benefit all super late model racing.

All the dyno runs were completed using common headers and a common race ready carburetor like the ones used by the top super late model teams.

According to all the leaders present, all the engines put on the dyno were found to conform within the expectations for those packages.

S.E.A.L.’s Wood noted, “It takes a great effort from the teams, builders and officials to gather this important information and we truly appreciate everyone’s hard work and cooperation in this process. Once again, I’d like to note that the staff at Robert Yates Racing Engines was outstanding, and we appreciate the professionalism and the integrity they bring to this process.”
