SEAL Committee: “We are Confident in the 2026 Rules for ALL Super Late Model Engines”

(April 13, 2026)- In a Wednesday evening meeting of the SEAL committee, members discussed the rules packages for the current allowed engines they oversee for Pavement Late Model Racing. As has been standard practice through the years, this committee leadership has diligently evaluated engine package rules, years of dyno results, and on track results across the country.

This week, the members unanimously agreed that they were confident in the guidelines for ALL Super Late Model engine packages, and they don’t foresee any changes to the Engine sections of the rulebooks any time this season.

The group also noted that while they have recent comparative dyno results, they expect to conduct continual, and even more extensive, dyno testing and evaluation throughout this season.

Committee Chairman Marty Melo commented, “We have built a new, bigger, and more diverse committee to help the industry lead and monitor what we are currently doing with engine packages and constantly evaluating what is best for our sport. They all have a stake in trying to do what’s best for the future of short track racing, and I am certain this group will lead our country’s racing programs to an even better environment for our teams, tracks and fans. I am confident in this group of individuals and the growth they will help guide going forward.”
