Rookie Dawson Sutton Paces Two Practice Rounds at Five Flags

(PENSACOLA, FLORIDA) – A busy practice day on Saturday at Five Flags Speedway has the stars of the ASA STARS National Tour ready for tomorrow’s Sunshine State 200. 29 drivers have presented cars this weekend for the second race of the 2024 ASA STARS National Tour schedule.

Connor Okrzesik led the final practice over Canadian driver Cole Butcher. The final round of practice proved to be costly for some drivers as Jett Noland, who was second in the Clyde Hart Memorial 200 at New Smyrna in February crashed in the final round of practice. Also, Rookie driver Jo Lawrence had a late practice crash that ended the final practice.

Dawson Sutton led the first two rounds of practice and showed the best overall consistency by being at the top of the charts in two rounds. Only Jett Noland, Stephen Nasse, and Austin Nason were in the top five in two of the three rounds.

Sutton had the best lap of the day when he ran a 16.578 in the first practice. The rookie from Lebanon, Tennessee has been fast all weekend and hopes to keep things rolling tomorrow afternoon.

The ASA STARS National Tour Sunshine State 200 will go green tomorrow at 3 pm CT. Qualifying will take place at high noon central time in the Pensacola sun. Fans at Five Flags Speedway will have an autograph session at 1:30 pm ahead of the 3 pm green flag start. Tickets are still available and those who can’t be there can log on to TrackTv.com to subscribe and watch the action live.
