(New Smyrna, FL) It’s one thing to start off the year with speed, but to win two premier Super Late Model races right out of the gate is remarkable.

With Bubba Pollard’s win in the Clyde Hart Memorial at New Smyrna Speedway, he kicks off his ASA campaign on the right foot this year as opposed to what occurred between him and Casey Roderick in last year’s ASA opener. Pollard has now also started off his Southern Super Series campaign with back-to-back victories.

Charging through the field in the final 50-lap run, Pollard passed some fast cars in Casey Roderick, Jett Noland, and eventually Ty Majeski for the lead with 18 to go. Noland and Roderick rounded out the podium in 2nd and 3rd respectively, as Majeski slowly faded due to a mechanical issue late in the race.

“We just got behind on some of those restarts picking lanes,” Bubba Pollard told Liberty Racing Review. “That was the biggest thing. I had to hit my marks and be patient. I just needed green flag runs.”

Pollard also spoke on how it feels to start off the year with such momentum on his side.

“This is a place I consider us okay; I know at Cordele we’ve got a lot of laps around there and have been fast. To come here and win to start the year off, it says a lot about what we’ve got going on. Hopefully we can keep it up. It’s hard racing against these guys.”

Next up for the ASA STARS National Tour is the Sunshine State 200 at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida. This will be the second race of the 2024 ASA STARS National Tour season as well as the third race for the Southern Super Series.
