The ASA STARS National Tour will take on the Owosso Speedway this Saturday August 17th for the Michigan 200. 20 cars are entered and ready to start a new event in Super Late Model racing. Among those entered includes series staples as well as new faces.
Owosso Speedway staff and ASA STARS National Tour staff have made the decision to move forward with this weekend’s events. The track has all the necessary track drying equipment. In the event of a rain out on Saturday the event will be run on Sunday afternoon August 18th.
4 – Colin Barron
Making his ASA STARS National Tour debut this Saturday at Owosso Speedway is Colin Barron from Taylor, MI. Barron has made one start with the CRA JEGS All Star Tour this season at the Flat Rock Speedway.
5 – Jonathon Knee
Fort Collins, Colorado native Jonathon Knee has run 3 races with the ASA STARS National Tour so far in 2024. Knee will be behind the wheel of the Wauters Racing Development #5 car. Knee’s best finish this season so far is a 9th place finish at Madison International Speedway in the Capital 200.
7 – David Liaeff
David Liaeff will make his first start of 2024 with the ASA STARS National Tour. Liaeff ran with the series last year at Toledo Speedway during the Glass City 200. He also runs part time with the CRA JEGS All Star Tour where he had 2 top 5 finishes last year including a 5th place finish at Owosso Speedway.
14 – Austin Nason
He comes into Saturday 6th in the 2024 Point Standings. The Full time Platinum Program driver is coming off of a 2nd place finish at Anderson Speedway in the Redbud 400 and led for several laps. The Midwest hot shoe is a former Wayne Carter Classic winner as well as a former Joe Shear Classic winner in the ASA Midwest Tour.
14 – Chase Pinsonneault
The young Canadian driver will be making his ASA STARS National Tour debut. Pinsonneault is a former CRA JEGS All Star Tour winner at Owosso back in May. He also is a former competitor in the APC Pro Late Model Series in Canada where he has a top 5 finish at the Sauble Speedway.
18 – Josh Ebbert
One of many drivers making their ASA STARS National Tour debut this Saturday. Ebbert has run a wide variety of divisions including Super Late Models with the ASA CRA Super Series, CRA Street Stocks, and the Vores Compact Touring Series.
18 – Chase Burda
The defending CRA JEGS All Star Tour Champion will make his second start of the season with the ASA STARS National Tour. Burda has one win so far in the JEGS Tour at the Flat Rock Speedway. Burda finished 7th in the Winchester 400 just one season ago.
22 – Gio Ruggiero
He currently sits 3rd in the 2024 Point Standings. The young driver for Donnie Wilson Motorsports has three top five finishes including a podium 3rd place finish at the Redbud 400. Ruggiero is the defending Winchester 400 winner as well as the 2023 Tar Heel 250 winner.
22 – Evan Shotko
The Berlin Raceway standout will look to make his ASA STARS National Tour debut at Owosso Speedway this Saturday. The 2022 Berlin Raceway Track Champion is also a former winner of the Battle at Berlin. Back in May Shotko finished 3rd with the CRA JEGS All Star Tour at Owosso Speedway.
23 – Billy Van Meter
He currently sits 10th in the 2024 Point Standings with the ASA STARS National Tour. To this date Van Meter has perfect attendance having run at every ASA STARS National Tour event. Van Meter is coming off of his two best finishes with the STARS Tour finishing 4th at the Milwaukee Mile and 5th at Anderson Speedway.
24 – Albert Francis
He’s back behind the wheel of the Donnie Wilson Motorsports #24 car. Francis ran this car at the Redbud 400 where he came away with a 10th place finish. He is also a former Champion at the Jennerstown Speedway in the Late Models.
26 – Dawson Sutton
Back on August 3rd Sutton won the Master of the Pro’s 185 at Owosso Speedway with the CRA JEGS All Star Tour. The Rising Star from Tennessee has had some strong runs as of late. Sutton won the Father’s Day 100 at the Milwaukee Mile when he got by Ty Majeski with just a handful of laps remaining.
28 – Gavan Boschele
He’ll be making his second start with the ASA STARS National Tour this Saturday at Owosso Speedway. Boschele will be behind the wheel of the Donnie Wilson Motorsports #28 car. Boschele ran at Berlin and came away with a 4th place finish in the Money in the Bank 150 at Berlin Raceway.
30 – Kyle Steckly
Coming off one of the biggest wins of his young career Kyle Steckly currently sits tied for 6th in the Point Standings. Steckly got his first ASA STARS National Tour win at Anderson Speedway in the Redbud 400. The young Canadian is also the defending Champion of the APC Pro Late Model Series in Canada.
44 – Conner Jones
So far in 2024 Conner Jones has run three races. Jones kicked off the season at New Smyrna Speedway where he set fast time in the Clyde Hart Memorial. Jones, who also races in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series for Thorsport will look to turn his luck around in the Super Late Models this Saturday August 17th at Owosso Speedway.
45 – Michael Simko
Making his first start of 2024 with the ASA STARS National Tour is Clarkston, MI driver Michael Simko. Simko is coming off a 10th place finish at Owosso with the CRA JEGS All Star Tour. Simko made his ASA STARS National Tour debut at Toledo Speedway last year during the Glass City 200.
61 – Brandon Varney
Brandon Varney will be looking to make his ASA STARS National Tour debut this Saturday August 17th at Owosso Speedway. Varney’s last race he ran was at the Toledo Speedway with the CRA JEGS All Star Tour.
97 – Derek Lemke
Another driver making their ASA STARS National Tour debut this Saturday is Derek Lemke. The Minnesota native now calls North Carolina home. Lemke has competed on and off with the ASA Midwest Tour since 2012. He teamed up with Grant Thormeier and ran the Reffner 88 at La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway last month.
97 – Grant Thormeier
Lakeland, Florida native Grant Thormeier will be making his debut with the ASA STARS National Tour this Saturday at Owosso Speedway. Thormeier is a former competitor in the United Speedway Alliance Racing Series.
131 – Blake Rowe
He currently leads the CRA JEGS All Star Tour Point Standings. So far this season with the JEGS Tour Rowe has one win, winning at Berlin Raceway. Last season with the ASA STARS National Tour Rowe ran three races including a 9th place finish at Anderson Speedway. Rowe won the Hot Shoe 100 Modified event at Owosso Speedway back in 2023.
The Michigan 200 is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, August 16 & 17 at Owosso (MI) Speedway. Hauler parking, tech inspection and practice are scheduled for Friday, August 16. Go Fas Pole Qualifying and the 200 lap STARS Main Event are set for Saturday, August 17. The event will serve as race #7 of the ASA Stars National Tour season. The Michigan 200 will be co-sanctioned with the ASA CRA Super Series.
The debut of the ASA STARS National Tour at Owosso will take place in conjunction with Michigan International Speedway’s huge NASCAR Weekend. The Michigan 200 start time is 8:00PM Eastern Time, allowing fans to make the trek north from Brooklyn to catch the Stars and Cars of ASA.
Adult tickets are just $14 (21 and older). 20 and under are FREE! Tickets for Seniors, Military and First Responders are just $12. Seating for this event is general admission. This is the cheapest ticket for an ASA STARS National Tour race all season!
The Owosso Speedway is Michigan’s Oldest Race Track, opening the doors in 1939. For 85 years the Owosso Speedway has provided heart pounding, high speed entertainment to Central Michigan. Under the ownership of Rex and Sarah Wheeler since September of 2022, the Owosso Speedway has seen unprecedented capital investment to become one of the premier short tracks in the United States. In 2024 the Speedway has 31 events featuring several of the top touring series and weekly divisions in short track racing. The Owosso Speedway races every Saturday night from late April-September.

Founded by Track Enterprises President Bob Sargent, The ASA STARS National Tour for pavement super-late model stock cars debuted in March 2023 for Super Late Model racing in America.
The ASA STARS National Tour is a ten-race championship series, offering a $100,000 point fund. The tour will visit ten different race tracks in 7 states in 2024, with the season beginning in February during Florida Speedweeks, and concluding in early November at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway.
