Midwest Drivers Headed East

(Thornburg, VA) – Four drivers from the Midwest will make the trip through the Appalachian Mountains to Dominion Raceway for the Appalachian Sucker Punch 250 this Saturday April 5th.

Johnny Sauter is set to be behind the wheel of the Richie Wauters Racing orange number 5. Sauter is a former Champion in the ASA National Tour dating back to 2001. Sauter also won the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series back in 2016. In Super Late Model competition he’s a former winner in the Dick Trickle 99 at La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway and he’s a former Oktoberfest Champion.

Derek Kraus is a former Champion in the ARCA Menards Series West when he drove for Bill McAnally. In Super Late Model competition Kraus is the youngest winner in the ASA Midwest Tour back at Dells Raceway Park in 2016. Kraus also has wins at Oktoberfest in the Futures and the Knights.

Austin Nason is a former winner of big events in Super Late Model racing. He’s won big events like the Joe Shear Classic, Howie Lettow Classic, Father’s Day 100, Wayne Carter Classic and the National Short Track Championships. Nason has been close to winning with the ASA STARS National Tour. Last season he finished 2nd in the Redbud 400 at Anderson Speedway and followed it up with a 2nd place finish in the Michigan 200 at Owosso Speedway.

Ty Fredrickson is looking to get back to his winning ways from last season. He won big events like the Icebreaker at Dells Raceway Park and the Dick Trickle 99 at La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway. He went on to be the ASA Midwest Tour Rookie of the Year, Tundra Super Late Model Rookie of the Year and win the Championship in the Tundra Super Late Models.

Appalachian Sucker Punch ASA STARS National Tour

Founded by Track Enterprises President Bob Sargent, The Appalachian Sucker Punch ASA STARS National Tour for pavement Super Late Model stock cars debuted in March 2023.

The Appalachian Sucker Punch ASA STARS National Tour is a twelve-race championship series, offering a $100,000 point fund. The tour will visit 12 different racetracks in 8 states in 2025, with the season beginning in February during Florida Speedweeks and concluding in early November at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway.
