Ty Majeski has maintained a busy Super Late Model schedule even through his foray into the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series full-time. Along with two wins and a fourth-place result in Truck Series points in 2022, he also added multiple Super Late Model wins across Wisconsin, Alabama, and Florida during the year.
In between his duties with ThorSport, the five-time ASA Midwest Tour champion once again has multiple starts planned in the Super Late Model, which could lead to a chase at the ASA STARS National Tour championship under the right conditions.
“We’re kind of going to go race-by-race. We’re going to commit to run through Kaukauna and see where we’re at from there. A couple of races later in the year are going to be tough for me to make it, and they’re more of a commitment from a team perspective,” said Majeski. “We’ll run through the first seven races and then make a decision on the last three.”
Four of the first seven races of the ASA STARS National Tour are contested at tracks that Majeski has won at in the past, including having won the Joe Shear Classic, Slinger Nationals, and Gandrud Auto Group 250 in the past. He is also a former Snowball Derby champion at Five Flags Speedway, winning it in 2020.
However, that leaves three tracks that he has yet to start a race at. That said, he does have many laps around Hickory Motor Speedway, just not under race conditions.
“We didn’t go to the Wilkesboro race last year. I’ve tested at Hickory multiple times but I’ve never raced there. I like a challenge, I’m hearing rumors that Wilkesboro and Hickory are just one-day shows with a couple relatively short practices. It’s going to be interesting, we’re going to have to unload close for sure.”
The ECMD 150 on Tuesday, May 16 gives Majeski a chance at extra laps around North Wilkesboro Speedway ahead of that Saturday’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Tyson 250. With the Tar Heel 250 just down the road at Hickory scheduled nine days later, it was a no-brainer to take part in both races.
“That’s sort of the reason why we’re going, to get some seat time for the Truck race. With two STARS races being in North Carolina in a week, we thought it would make sense to do both of them. I’m going to go down there and try to get some seat time for the Truck race, that was the main goal, and try to kill two birds with one stone.”
A third-place finish at Five Flags has Majeski sixth in ASA STARS National Tour points after the first race of the season. After a successful first race, he is excited to see where the series goes throughout the rest of the 2023 season.
“It’s something that I feel like short track Super Late Model racing has needed. I wish the rules were a little bit more uniform, it seems like we’re going to have a mixed bag when it comes to some of the Wisconsin shows. But all in all, it’s certainly a step in the right direction. It’s not easy to get everyone on board with a unified rules package within a year or so but I know that’s the way it’s headed. Bob Sargent and everybody are doing a great job getting everything rolling. Overall, the first race was a pretty big success and hopefully we can keep these great car counts at Madison, Hickory and North Wilkesboro.”
The Joe Shear Classic 200 will mark race two of the inaugural ASA STARS National Tour schedule, set for 2:00PM CT on Sunday, May 7. The ASA STARS National Tour opened the ten race, six-state schedule at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, FL on March 11. Georgia racer Casey Roderick won the Sunshine State 200.

ASA STARS National Tour
The ASA STARS National Tour debuted in March of 2023 for Super Late Model racing in America. Announced last October, many of the best drivers in America will compete in the ten-race national tour with a minimum $100,000 point fund. The championship team will be guaranteed $25,000.
The ASA STARS National Tour is made up of three races from each of the regional pavement Super Late Model Series under the Track Enterprises banner; the ASA CRA Super Series, the ASA Midwest Tour and the ASA Southern Super Series.
The Team Construction Winner’s Circle program has been announced as a part of the ASA STARS National Tour for licensed drivers/teams with perfect attendance. The program provides additional financial incentives to those teams who support the Series, thanks to Team Construction.
Track Enterprises, a Racing Promotions Company based in Illinois, will operate the ASA STARS National Tour. It announced the acquisition of the CRA sanctioning body in January and followed that up with the purchase of the Midwest Tour in July. In October, Track Enterprises President, Bob Sargent announced a partnership with the Southern Super Series which set the table for the formation of the ASA STARS National Tour.
