Newport, TN – One of the most dynamic father/son racing duos in the country is headed to Newport Speedway alongside the Appalachian Sucker Punch ASA STARS National Tour on Saturday, July 25th. NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee, Kevin Harvick, alongside his son, Keelan Harvick, are headed for East Tennessee with very different roles for the Newport 325.
In 2025, the pair toured the country racing Pro Late Models in the “Harvick Cup”, a seven-month battle that stretched across seven tracks in five states. During the stretch, the now-13-year-old Harvick earned his first career Pro Late Model win during a CARS Tour West event at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway before being crowned the Harvick Cup Champion. Since then, Keelan has gone on to make history multiple times, including being the youngest winner of the Allen Turner Snowflake 100 at Five Flags Speedway, the youngest winner of the Icebreaker at Florence Motor Speedway, and has now won two more CARS Tour West Pro Late Model events under the Toyota Racing Development banner.
The Newport 325 will serve as Keelan’s debut with the ASA STARS National Tour during a season that has already seen Keelan post four consecutive top-five finishes, including a runner-up performance back on March 14th at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway with the CARS Tour West Super Late Models. When the field rolls from the grid on July 25th, Keelan will only have to worry about racing drivers like Carson Brown, Kyle Steckly, Derek Thorn, and the other regulars on the ASA STARS National Tour, while Kevin will have to worry about saying four words at the start of the night.
For this particular show, Kevin Harvick is trading in the helmet and steering wheel for a microphone and the responsibility of bringing the field to life ahead of the 325-lap main event. The 2007 Daytona 500 Champion will serve as the Grand Marshal for the middle event of the 2026 season for the ASA STARS National Tour, which has seen three different winners in the first five races. Carson Brown opened the season with back-to-back wins at New Smyrna and Five Flags Speedway, with another win coming on Sunday at Slinger Super Speedway. Caden Kvapil grabbed the win at Hickory back in May, with Kyle Steckly notching the most recent win on Tuesday at Madison.
The Newport 325 is the next event for the ASA STARS National Tour on Saturday, July 25th. Tickets will be available at the gate on race day. Fans who can’t make the trip can catch the action live, exclusively on TrackTV.com.
