With the Father’s Day 100 at the Milwaukee Mile now in the books, we are officially halfway through the inaugural ASA STARS National Tour season.
The first-year series has seen four different winners in the first five races of the season; Ty Majeski being the only driver with two wins after his triumph Sunday at the Milwaukee Mile, along with a win at Madison. Casey Roderick won the inaugural race at Five Flags Speedway, while Bubba Pollard won at North Wilkesboro Speedway and Gio Ruggiero took his first-career Super Late Model win at Hickory Motor Speedway.
86 drivers from 22 states have turned laps during the first five races of the ASA STARS National Tour. Eight drivers have run all five races, with an additional five competing in four of the five.
Five NASCAR Cup Series drivers have ASA STARS National Tour starts under their belts, with Chase Elliott and William Byron each having run two races. Several other drivers with full-time experience in NASCAR’s top-three series have also competed with the series, including current points leader Ty Majeski.
The arrival of the ASA STARS National Tour also brought the arrival of stage racing to the Super Late Model discipline. Majeski has the most stage wins with three, while Bubba Pollard is the only other driver with multiple stage wins. Other drivers to have collected stage wins include Matt Craig, Jacob Goede, Chase Elliott, William Byron, and Jesse Love.
Casey Roderick leads the series in stage finishes, having collected stage points in nine of the ten stages contested to this point. However, Ty Majeski has collected the most stage points this season with 81.
The Wisconsin driver also leads the series with four top-fives in the first five races, with a worst finish of 10th at North Wilkesboro. Roderick has three top-five finishes and only one finish outside the top-ten, a 12th at Hickory. Cole Butcher also has three top-five finishes and one finish outside the top-ten, when he finished 14th at Madison after falling out of the race in the last 20 laps.
The first five races were held over a span of three months, with four of those races contested in a six-week span. The next race will be Saturday, July 15 at Anderson Speedway, before trekking to Wisconsin International Raceway on Tuesday, August 1. The series then gets 46 days off before the Glass City 200 at Toledo Speedway on Saturday, September 16. The Winchester 400 at Winchester Speedway on Sunday, October 15 and the All-American 400 on Sunday, November 5 will close out the season.
All five tracks remaining on the schedule have seen drivers who have competed with the ASA STARS National Tour go to victory lane in their marquee races. Carson Hocevar has wins at the Redbud 400, Toledo Speedway, and the Winchester 400, while Stephen Nasse is the defending winner of both the Winchester 400 and All-American 400. Kyle Crump is a former Redbud 400 winner; Ty Majeski, Johnny Sauter, and Paul Shafer Jr. are former Gandrud Auto Group 250 victors, Boris Jurkovic has wins in both the All-American 400 and Winchester 400, while Bubba Pollard and Matt Craig both have All-American 400 wins to their credit.
The ASA STARS National Tour heads to the birthplace of ASA, Anderson Speedway on Saturday, July 15 for the Greg Hubler Automotive Group Redbud 400. Tickets for the Redbud 400 are available now by calling (765)642-0206 ext.121 or by visiting the track office.
The Redbud 400 will be co-sanctioned with the ASA CRA Super Series, which will be the second race of the CRA season. Gio Ruggiero previously won at Salem Speedway.
The ASA STARS National Tour opened the ten race, six-state schedule at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, FL on March 11. Ty Majeski is the most recent winner, claiming the victory in the Father’s Day 100 at the Milwaukee Mile.
