Woodville, WI – Officials from the Appalachian Sucker Punch ASA STARS National Tour have announced that Highlands Motorsports will return to the Platinum Program for the upcoming season, once again fielding Derek Thorn as the team’s driver.
Highlands Motorsports has found success in short track racing, capturing back-to-back CARS Tour Pro Late Model championships with drivers Luke Fenhaus and Caden Kvapil. The 2025 season marked the team’s first full season in Super Late Model competition, pairing with Derek Thorn, where they finished seventh in the ASA STARS National Tour point standings, demonstrating a strong transition to the Super Late Model ranks.
Derek Thorn is one of the most accomplished Super Late Model drivers in the country, highlighted by a Snowball Derby victory and six championships on the SPEARS Southwest Tour. His resume also includes two Winter Showdown wins, along with victories in the Summer Showdown and the Madera Short Track Shootout. Last season Thorn had two podium finishes with the ASA STARS National Tour picking up a 2nd place finish at Dominion Raceway and a 3rd place finish at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway in the All American 400.
