(Pensacola, FL) – California native Derek Thorn has filed his entry for the Sunshine State 200 at Five Flags Speedway on Sunday March 23rd.
Thorn is no stranger to Victory Lane at Five Flags Speedway. He’s a former winner of the Snowball Derby and he’s a two time winner of the Pro Late Model Snowflake 100. In Southern Super Series competition Thorn won race 2 of the PepperJack Kennels Twin 100’s back in 2022. Thorn is also a two time Champion in the ARCA Menards Series West and a six time Champion in the SPEARS Southwest Tour.
The Sunday, March 23rd matinee will conclude the weekend as the top Super Late Model drivers in the country will square off in the ASA STARS National Tour Sunshine State 200. The event is a combination race with the ASA Southern Super Series and the track’s Blizzard Series. Qualifying will be at 12:00 pm CT, autograph session at 12:45 pm CT, and racing at 2:00 pm CT.
Last year’s opening weekend saw great racing for all three days and fans can catch the whole weekend this year for a special price of just $60 for a three-day ticket. Single day tickets are also available for reserved and general admission seating.
