(ANDERSON, INDIANA) – Cole Butcher strengthened his ASA STARS National Tour point lead after he dominated the second half of the 59th Annual CB Fabricating Redbud 400 at Anderson Speedway.

With the aid of holding out for fresh tires, Butcher charged from his 12th starting spot to finish third in the first segment, second in the second segment, before taking the lead with 79 laps to go.

The Porter’s Lake, Nova Scotia driver had fresh tires at that point, won for the second-straight race and the fourth time this season. The victory gave the Donnie Wilson Motorsports driver his second win in the historic Redbud 400 event.

Derek Kraus began the night with the CorvetteParts.net Pole award. The fast time allowed Kraus to start on the point, and he led the first 140 circuits. Kraus was relegated to 12th after he was forced to retire from fatigue.

Butcher got the lead by staying out under the first stage break. A few laps later, Chase Pinsonneault got to the point and led for over 40 laps before he gave it back to Butcher on lap 211.

Roscoe, IL’s Austin Nason emerged as a strong contender as he led the race for the fourth time in his career. Nason ended up seventh after winning the second segment.

Once Butcher got to the lead, he was unchallenged as ASA Rookie Gavan Boschele from Morseville, NC, came from 16th to finish second despite being involved in a lap 90 crash. At the finish, he was three seconds behind the leader.

The victory marks the third-straight Redbud 400 won by a driver from north of the border. Cole Butcher’s two wins were sandwiched by Kyle Steckley’s win last year. In his race win defence, Steckley made the podium in third.

Carson Brown started on the outside of the front row and finished fourth. The surprise of the night was that Steven Ulman from Tawas, MI, came from 17th to post a fifth-place run in his second ASA start.

The ASA STARS National Tour will return to action on Wednesday, August 20th at Owosso Speedway (MI) for the Michigan 300.
