Chandler Smith Enters Michigan 200

Current NASCAR Xfinity Series regular Chandler Smith is set to run the Michigan 200 at Owosso Speedway on Sunday August 25th. Smith will fill in for Gio Ruggiero as Ruggiero is set to run in the ARCA Menards Series at the Milwaukee Mile.

Smith is one of the rising stars in auto racing right now. In 2021 he won the Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway. In 2022 he finished 3rd in the NASCAR Truck Series point standings picking up 3 wins during that season. So far in 2024 Smith has 2 wins in the Xfinity Series picking up wins at Phoenix Raceway and Richmond Raceway.

Smith now makes 27 entries for the Michigan 200. The Sunday matinee event is shaping up to be the one big event you don’t want to miss. Saturday August 24th will see two practice sessions for the ASA STARS National Tour. Following practice Owosso Speedway will host the 13th Annual Ron Hauser Memorial for the Outlaw Super Late Models. Modifieds, Mini Wedges and Street Stocks will all be competing. Then on Sunday you’ll see Practice, Go Fas Pole Qualifying, an on track autograph session, the Michigan 200 for the ASA STARS National Tour and the Pure Stocks will round out the show.

The Owosso Speedway is Michigan’s Oldest Race Track, opening the doors in 1939. For 85 years the Owosso Speedway has provided heart pounding, high speed entertainment to Central Michigan. Under the ownership of Rex and Sarah Wheeler since September of 2022, the Owosso Speedway has seen unprecedented capital investment to become one of the premier short tracks in the United States. In 2024 the Speedway has 31 events featuring several of the top touring series and weekly divisions in short track racing. The Owosso Speedway races every Saturday night from late April-September.

ASA STARS National Tour

Founded by Track Enterprises President Bob Sargent, The ASA STARS National Tour for pavement super-late model stock cars debuted in March 2023 for Super Late Model racing in America.

The ASA STARS National Tour is a ten-race championship series, offering a $100,000 point fund. The tour will visit ten different race tracks in 7 states in 2024, with the season beginning in February during Florida Speedweeks, and concluding in early November at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway.

Track Enterprises (TE) is a racing Promotions Company based in Illinois, which owns and operates the ASA STARS National Tour. In addition to the STARS National Tour, Track Enterprises owns and operates Championship Racing Association (CRA) and the ASA Midwest Tour. TE also has a strategic alliance and controlling interest in the ASA Southern Super Series.

ASA Branded Tours encompasses four (4) pavement super late model racing series operating under the Track Enterprises banner, and under the ASA Brand via a licensing agreement for logo and IP Rights. ASA Branded Tours include the ASA STARS National Tour; the ASA CRA Super Series; The ASA Midwest Tour and the ASA Southern Super Series.
