Champions, Contenders, and Rising Stars Set to Battle in the 54th Winchester 400

Winchester, Ind. – A total of 26 drivers are officially entered for the 54th running of the Winchester 400 presented by Vore’s Welding and Steel, set for this Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Winchester Speedway. The crown jewel event, sanctioned by the Appalachian Sucker Punch ASA STARS National Tour, will once again feature some of short track racing’s biggest names, rising stars, and national champions all chasing one of the most coveted victories in asphalt short track racing.

Defending race winner and current Appalachian Sucker Punch ASA STARS National Tour point leader Cole Butcher returns to the high banks of Winchester looking to make it two straight 400 victories. Joining him is an all-star lineup that includes Ty Majeski, the defending NASCAR Truck Series Champion, 2023 ASA STARS National Tour Champion, and five-time ASA Midwest Tour Champion, along with two-time Winchester 400 winner Stephen Nasse.

Also entered are some of the biggest names in modern short track racing, including Derek Thorn, a multi-time Spears SRL Southwest Tour Champion and former Snowball Derby winner; Derek Kraus, a former ARCA West Champion and the youngest winner in ASA Midwest Tour history; and Jake Garcia, the defending All American 400 Champion and a former Southern Super Series Champion.

A talented crop of young stars will also be in the mix, including Dawson Sutton, who enters fresh off his Glass City 200 victory and recent Southern Super Series win at Five Flags Speedway; Gavan Boschele, the Clyde Hart Memorial winner at New Smyrna; and George Phillips, a five-time top-10 finisher this year with the ASA STARS National Tour. Canadian rising talents Chase Pinsonneault and Kyle Steckly will both represent the next generation of Northern competitors, joined by Kasey Kleyn, a former Northwest Super Late Model Series Champion.

The Midwest will be well represented by drivers like Austin Nason, a winner of major events including the Joe Shear Classic and National Short Track Championships, and Blake Rowe, the defending CRA JEGS All Star Tour Champion, former Glass City 200 winner, and three-time Hot Shoe 100 victor. Other notable entrants include Billy VanMeter, the current JEGS Tour point leader and three-time Winchester winner in the CRA Late Model Sportsman division, and Albert Francis, a former Jennerstown Speedway Champion and winner at Toledo Speedway.

The field also features Matt Craig, a two-time CARS Tour Super Late Model Champion and three-time PASS South Champion; Logan Bearden, a top-five finisher in the 2022 Redbud 400; and Steven Ulman, a JEGS CRA All Star Tour winner who finished fifth in this year’s Redbud 400. Additional entrants include Chris Munson, Jon Beach, Will Sahutske, Avery Demland and Gabrielle Grigsby.


The 54th Running of the Winchester 400 presented by Vore’s Welding and Steel takes place on Sunday, October 12, 2025 at Winchester Speedway. Racing action kicks off on Friday night with the CRA JEGS All Stars Tour while Saturday features ASA STARS National Tour Practice, CorvetteParts.Net Pole Qualifying as well as racing action including the Modifieds, CRA Street Stocks and CRA Late Model Sportsman. First run in 1970, the Winchester 400 has become one of the crown jewel events in Super Late Model racing.
