Current ASA STARS National Tour Point Leader Casey Roderick dominated the 36th CorvetteParts.Net Glass City 200 on Saturday night at Toledo Speedway. Roderick would start off his Saturday by winning the Go Fas Pole Award with a lap of 15.523. When the green flag would wave to start the 200 lap event Roderick would waste no time getting out front and setting the pace. Trouble would hit on lap 55 as Dawson Sutton made hard contact with the Turn 3 and 4 safety barrier. Sutton would get out of the car under his own power after the right front of his 26 machine broke. On the restart Roderick would stay out front and take home the Stage 1 win.
Roderick would continue to lead the way in Stage 2 when the caution came out this time for Brandon Barker around in turns 1 and 2. Roderick would continue to lead and set the pace of the race when the caution would come out again, this time for Jake Francis who made hard contact with the turn 1 safety barrier. When they went back to green it would be Roderick taking home the Stage 2 win.
Business would pick up in the final 50 laps. The caution would come out again this time with 18 to go as Brian Campbell, Chase Burda and Billy VanMeter were all involved. When the field came back to green the restart would be called off. On take two of the restart Gio Ruggiero would take the lead after Gavan Boschele and Roderick got together on the restart. However, Roderick would get settled back in and run down Ruggiero and take the lead back with 10 to go. He would run away from the field and take home the $15,000 payday and add his name to the historic list of Glass City 200 winners. Ruggiero would finish 2nd, while Boschele finished 3rd. Austin Nason would finish 4th and Jonathon Knee would round out the top 5.
Next up for the ASA STARS National Tour is the Winchester 400 at Winchester Speedway on Sunday October 13th. ASA has a storied history at the Winchester Speedway and the ASA STARS National Tour looks to keep the tradition going.
