(SLINGER, WISCONSIN) – It’s been a championship-caliber season already for Porter’s Lake, Nova Scotia driver Cole Butcher. With two wins already this season, the outcome of the El Bandido Yankee Tequila 300 presented by Appalachian Sucker Punch at Slinger Super Speedway was crucial to the second half of the year.

What we got might have been the passing of the torch for 2025 as Butcher held off NASCAR Truck Champion and Slinger Super Speedway ace Ty Majeski for the win.

Majeski, a native of Seymour, Wisconsin, was the 2023 ASA STARS National Tour Champion, traded paint and the lead with Butcher in the final 50 laps several times before Butcher got away on the final restart.

The pot was a little sweeter for Majeski who set fast time for the race but was offered $5,000 by PepperJack Kennels to start from the rear.

In victory lane, Butcher gave a shout-out to his dad, and his son Brody as Butcher was celebrating his first fathers Day. Butcher also praised Majeski for the good hard racing in the closing laps.

Perhaps the win is a passing from one ASA champion to a potential future ASA champion, but Butcher would be quick to point out that there is a long way to go.

Drivers from the Badger State had strong showings early on with Plover, Wisconsin driver Gabe Sommers, and Wausau, Wisconsin’s Luke Fenahus leading a third of the event. Both had trouble and finished out of the top 10 after 11 caution flags slowed the race.

Behind Butcher and Majeski was Pinellas Park, Florida driver Stephen Nasse who was strong all night. Fourth was Newport winner Stratford, Wisconsin’s Derek Kraus who led a good stint of the race after halfway. ASA Rookie Gavan Boschele overcame a couple of on-track incidents to post a fifth.

Friday night’s winner at Madison Carson Brown came into the race second in the standings but was the first car out aiding the big point night for Cole Butcher.

The ASA STARS National Tour will keep with the high-banked quarter-mile theme as the next race will be the Redbud 400 at Anderson Speedway (IN) on July 26th.
