ASA Dominion Race Rescheduled to be Part of the Florida Governor’s Cup at New Smyrna Speedway

May 29, 2026 – Officials with the Appalachian Sucker Punch ASA STARS National Tour have announced the rescheduling of round three on tour, originally scheduled for Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Dominion Raceway in Woodford, Virginia. The race has been rescheduled to Sunday, November 15 at New Smyrna Speedway as part of the 61st Running of the Bill Posey Florida Governor’s Cup 200. The weekend event will now serve as the Championship race for both the ASA STARS National Tour and the ASA/CRA Super Series.
The Bill Posey Florida Governor’s Cup 200 represents the first time the ASA STARS National Tour has crowned a champion outside of Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway since returning to action in 2023. Ty Majeski (2023), Casey Roderick (2024), and Cole Butcher (2025) all took to “America’s Favorite Short Track” during the All American 400 with eyes on a Championship Title. Now, the championship hopeful will be forced to wait one more week to hoist the coveted HDfive Designs ASA Championship Trophy.
The Bill Posey Florida’s Governors Cup is also part of the Sunshine State Four Crown; a special bonus program designed to recognize excellence across four of Florida’s premier Super Late Model events. The program included the Clyde Hart Memorial on Tuesday, February 10 for the ASA STARS National Tour, the Sunshine State 200 on Saturday, March 14, the Blizzard Series Championship event at Five Flags Speedway on September 26, and the Florida Governor’s Cup on Sunday, November 15. The driver with the highest average finishing position across all four races will earn a $10,000 bonus, and the Hard Charger throughout the four events will earn a $5,000 bonus.
It’s sure to be a rich weekend for at least one team, if not multiple teams during the Florida Governor’s Cup at New Smyrna Speedway. The crowning of an Appalachian Sucker Punch ASA STARS National Tour Champion with a $100,000 points fund, an ASA/CRA Super Series Champion, a Sunshine State Four Crown winner, and a $20,000 top prize for winning the Bill Posey Florida Governor’s Cup 200.
“We are excited to end our season where we started,” stated owner Marty Melo. “This was not the original 2026 plan but with the difficulty of rescheduling an event without going against other series at this point in the season, this made perfect sense. We have more announcements coming in regards to adding to the already healthy purse of $70,000 at $20,000 to win and $1,500 to start,” Melo added.
The 61st Running of the Bill Posey Florida Governor’s Cup is sanctioned by the Appalachian Sucker Punch ASA STARS National Tour, ASA/CRA Super Series, and ASA Southern Super Series Presented by Sunoco Race Fuels.
