ASA Rewind…News and Notes from PRI

Majeski Honored – 2023 ASA STARS National Tour Champion Ty Majeski, and Gearheadz Motorsports team owner Todd Nagel were the headline honorees during a Champions Celebration Press Luncheon mid-day Friday at the Performance Racing Industries annual trade show in downtown Indianapolis.

Majeski and Nagel were each presented spectacular championship trophies, along with their respective year-end championship point fund earnings: a $5,000 bonus for Majeski as Series Driving Champion, and a $25,000 check to Nagel for the owners champion.

Big Money Payout at PRI Champions Celebration Press Luncheon – In addition to the year-end bonus checks received by the championship car owner and driver, Track Enterprises President and ASA STARS National Tour Founder handed out the balance of the 2024 $100,000 point fund, including separate checks for $12,500 and $10,000 to Donnie Wilson, car owner for 2nd place finisher Cole Butcher and 3rd place points finisher Gio Ruggerio. The ASA STARS National Tour point fund paid out through 10th in the final car owner standings.

Ruggerio, Sommers Also Feted – In addition to the ASA STARS National Tour teams and competitors, recognition was also provided to the ASA Regional Tours for their 2023 accomplishments.

Gio Ruggerio, in addition to his 3rd place finish in the ASA STARS National Tour final standings, was honored for a rare, first-time feat: Winning the championship in both the ASA CRA Super Series, and the ASA Southern Super Series.

Five Flags Speedway Owner/promoter and ASA Southern Super Series Director Tim Bryant presented Ruggerio with the Southern Super Series championship trophy, as well as the tours Rookie of the Year honors. Ruggerio will also be formally feted in January at the annual ASA CRA Super Series awards banquet in Indiana.

Gabe Sommers, 2023 ASA Midwest Tour champion, was also recognized, but was not in attendance.

ASA STARS, Regional Tour PRI Show Presence – The ASA STARS National Tour, and all three ASA Branded Regional Tours, had a big presence at the Performance Racing Industry Tradeshow over the weekend.

In addition to the Champions Celebration Press Luncheon and a display booth at the show, a large contingent of Series Management and Officials were present, including but not limited to all three ASA Branded Regional Tour Directors: Gregg McKarns (ASA Midwest Tour); Scott Menlen (ASA CRA Super Series) and Tim Bryant (Southern Super Series).

A large number of supporting sponsors for all ASA Branded Tours also participated in the annual PRI Trade Show, including but not limited to: Sunoco, the official Fuel of ASA; Hoosier Racing Tire, the official tire of ASA; HD5 Designs; Five Star Stock Car Bodies and PFC Brakes.
