The ASA Midwest Tour and ASA/CRA Super Series were both in action over the weekend at Dells Raceway Park and Winchester Speedway.

ASA Midwest Tour
Ty Majeski recovered from an early spin on lap 28 to win his first Jim Sauter Classic and $15,555 at Dells Raceway Park. He was back up to 4th by the halfway point of the 200-lap event and took the lead from Luke Fenhaus with 47 to go, holding off the Alive For Five Series points leader to the checkered.
The Jim Sauter Classic is Wisconsin’s newest big-money race, with the first edition being held in 2021 at the 1/3rd mile. It took three years for Majeski to get his first win in the race, the last one remaining on his list in Wisconsin.
“What a great car,” Majeski said in victory lane. “This is our Snowball Derby winning car. We built it in 2018 and only has about eight races on it in five or six years. This car is owned by Brad Mannstadt, longtime team owner. A lot of people put it their time and effort to make this deal work. It’s fun to come back home and take a little break from the truck stuff and drive fast late models, it’s fun.”
The ASA STARS National Tour points leader is now 4/4 in Midwest Tour races in 2023. Fenhaus was second followed by Max Kahler, John DeAngelis, and Tristan Swanson.
ASA/CRA Super Series
Donnie Wilson trades in the owner’s hat for a helmet once a year, choosing to do so at Winchester Speedway in 2023. He made that one start count, as he won his first Super Late Model race since the 2017 All American 400.
The 100-lap ASA/CRA Super Series event was a battle of attrition. Wilson inherited the lead on lap 38 after Michael Hinde hit the wall and led until a competition yellow with 20 to go. The Oklahoma native’s protégé Gio Ruggiero stole the lead from his boss on the restart, but would himself hit the wall with eight to go after a tire failure. Wilson re-inherited the lead and went on to win the race ahead of Chase Burda, Andrik Dimayuga, Jordon Riddick and Albert Francis.
The World Stock Car Festival featured all four CRA divisions plus the Midwest Modifieds Tour, Vores Compact Touring Series, and Thunder Roadsters. Picking up wins were Chase Burda (JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour), Jon Beach (CRA LM Sportsman), Colby Lane (CRA Street Stocks), Trevor Berry (Modifieds), Tom Gossar and Alex Bube (Vores), and John Robbins (Thunder Roadsters)
The ASA/CRA Super Series joins the ASA STARS National Tour on Saturday, September 16 for the Glass City 200 at Toledo Speedway.
