ASA Racing Returning to Milwaukee Mile on Fathers Day!

ASA STARS National Tour Brings Iconic Brand Back To Milwaukee

(Macon, IL) A staple of stock car racing at the Wisconsin State Fair Park for a quarter century, the iconic American Speed Association brand will make its long-awaited return on Sunday Afternoon, June 18 with the Father’s Day 100 for the ASA STARS National Tour.

ASA first raced at the Miwaukee Mile on May 7, 1978, with all-time ASA wins leader Bob Senneker taking the checkered flag in the SuperAmerica 150. Over the course of the next 27 years, ASA conducted 34 events at the historic speedway. Senneker was by far the most successful, winning 5 times, with Wisconsin legend Dick Trickle finding victory lane on four occasions.

“Clearly, The Milwaukee Mile was, and is, a big part of the history of ASA,” commented Bob Sargent, who’s Track Enterprises company holds the promoter’s rights at the Milwaukee Mile, and is also the parent company of the ASA STARS National Tour. “The opportunity to bring ASA back to The Mile is exciting, and something the race teams and fans are looking forward to.”

ASA last raced at The Milwaukee Mile on August 29, 2004, with 1995 ASA ACDelco Challenge Series champion Bryan Reffner winning the Lester Buildings 200. Reffner was one of eleven ASA National Champions to win at The Mile. Others included Senneker, Trickle, Mark Martin, Butch Miller, Tony Raines (in an ASA Grand Marque series race), Rusty Wallace, Johnny Benson Jr., Mike Eddy and Kevin Cywinski.

The Father’s Day 100 was originally scheduled as an ASA Midwest Tour event, but a schedule change has now positioned the holiday special as an ASA STARS National Tour race. It will be co-sanctioned by the ASA Midwest Tour, and will pay championship points for both tours.

Practice and qualifying for the Father’s Day 100 will take place on Saturday, June 17, with the Father’s Day 100 set for Sunday Afternoon, June 18. The tours will be joined by the Midwest Truck Series, Mid-American Racing Series, Vores Compact Touring Series, and the Upper Midwest Vintage Series.

Tickets for the Father’s Day 100 are now on sale at the Wisconsin State Fairgrounds ticket office, or online by clicking here.

The Father’s Day 100 will be co-sanctioned with the ASA Midwest Tour, which will be the fourth race of the ASA MT season. RJ Braun, Ty Majeski, and Dalton Zehr have won races with the series this season.

The ASA STARS National Tour opened the ten race, six-state schedule at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, FL on March 11. Gio Ruggiero is the most recent winner, winning his first-career Super Late Model race in the Tar Heel 250 at Hickory Motor Speedway.
