The New Stars race returned in 2025 due to high demand from fans, and it was a popular show yet again! JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour presented by Chevrolet Performance drivers got to work behind the scenes as current championship leader Billy Van Meter drove the pace truck, 2024 Champion Blake Rowe was the Chief Starter, Chris Shannon as Race Control, Kyle Crump Pit Reporter, and Chase Pinsonneault as play-by-play announcer.
The race started with Tanner Jack leading the field to green, but a caution would wave three laps in as Jimmy Tucker’s Pro Late Model broke a throttle linkage. The restart had heavy hitters in Albert Francis and Barrett Polhemus hold the first two positions, as Tanner Jack and Justin Schroeder fought for positions. The Stage would complete after 20 laps with Albert Francis claiming the win and a $1000 bonus. A dice roll would set an invert as John Jackson of the Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club had the giant dice in hand, rolling an invert of five. The final stage set Cole Munson as leader and Jimmy Tucker outside the front row, thanks to his crew’s quick work in fixing the throttle linkage.
The green waved as Barrett Polhemus and Albert Francis quickly found themselves in the top three. Jimmy Tucker would have the lead, but with the rocketship in Barrett Polhemus, it would be too tuff to defend as Polhemus would take the lead. With the laps fading, Albert Francis and Jimmy Tucker quickly contest second with the bumper being used. The checkard flag would wave with Barrett Polhemus winning The New Stars Race at Owosso Speedway.
The intensisity in The New Stars Race sets the stage for round 9 of 10 in Sunday Afternoon’s Owosso Nationals 150 at Owosso Speedway. A championship battle between Billy Van Meter and Chris Shannon with 20 plus machines racing for $15,000. Catch the action as exciting racing continues this weekend with Champion Racing Association.
