2023 Season Recap – Father’s Day 100 at Milwaukee Mile

Over the course of the offseason, we will go back and recap each race of the 2023 ASA STARS National Tour season. The inaugural season featured seven different winners in ten races at ten different tracks, with a points battle that went down to the wire.

Race No.5 – Father’s Day 100 at Milwaukee Mile

After a double dip in North Carolina, the ASA STARS National Tour ventured westward to the Milwaukee Mile for the tour’s second stop in Wisconsin on Sunday, June 18 as part of a huge day of racing that saw the series joined by the Mid American Racing Series, Midwest Truck Series, Vores Compact Touring Series and Upper Midwest Vintage Series.

Saturday, June 17 was reserved for open practice for all divisions, with qualifying and racing taking place the next day. Eventual series champion Ty Majeski won the Go Fas Racing Pole Award for the first time, and he kept his front row starting spot after drawing a two, joining polesitter Jonathan Eilen in leading the field to green for 100 laps around the oldest operating speedway in the world.

Majeski jumped out to a big lead early while being chased by the likes of Cole Butcher, Derek Kraus and Casey Roderick. He won the first stage handedly before going to the pits and giving up the lead to then-points leader Roderick. He held on to the lead until a restart with 10 to go in stage two, when Majeski took the lead.

That would be the last time the lead changed hands during the race. He won the second stage, then set sail the final 40 laps to become the first two-time winner with the ASA STARS National Tour. Behind him, Cole Butcher and Casey Roderick traded the runner-up spot early in the final stage before Butcher pulled away for the second spot.

Majeski had taken the point lead from Roderick after Hickory and entered Milwaukee with just a four-point advantage. After the Father’s Day 100, his advantage grew to 23 over Roderick and 54 over Butcher at the halfway point of the season.

ASA STARS National Tour
The ASA STARS National Tour debuted in March 2023 for Super Late Model racing in America. Announced in October 2022, many of the best drivers in America will compete in the ten-race national tour with a minimum $100,000 point fund. The championship team will be guaranteed $25,000.

The ASA STARS National Tour is made up of three races from each of the regional pavement Super Late Model Series under the Track Enterprises banner – the ASA/CRA Super Series, the ASA Midwest Tour and the ASA Southern Super Series.

The Team Construction Winner’s Circle program has been announced as a part of the ASA STARS National Tour for licensed drivers/teams with perfect attendance. The program provides additional financial incentives to those teams who support the series.

Track Enterprises, a racing promotions company based in Illinois, will operate the ASA STARS National Tour. It announced the acquisition of Champion Racing Association (CRA) in January 2022 and followed that up with the purchase of the Midwest Tour in July. In October, Track Enterprises President Bob Sargent announced a partnership with the Southern Super Series, which set the table for the formation of the ASA STARS National Tour.
