Wimmer Prepares Preval Chevy for Joe Shear Classic

Wausau, WI – Chris Wimmer and the ARCA Midwest Tour hits the ½ mile pavement at Madison International Speedway for the first point race of the 2013 season. Fresh off a runner-up finish at Toledo Speedway, Wimmer feels good about his Preval Chevy as he heads to the Joe Shear Classic. “It’s always nice when you can start the season off with a good run, says Wimmer, “The car was really good at Toledo two weeks ago and I’m hoping that will continue this weekend.”

Wimmer brought home 4th and 6th place finishes last year during the Midwest Tour’s two stops at the Oregon, WI track and it wasn’t too many years ago that Wimmer passed NASCAR driver Matt Kenseth late in a race to find his way to Victory Lane. “Madison is a really neat track to run,” says Wimmer, “But it’s also one of the toughest. That place is really hard on your brakes and your equipment, so you need to make sure that your car handles well and you can save your tires in order to be around at the end.”

The fifth annual Joe Shear Classic honors the late race car driver Joe Shear, who was a short track legend in the Midwest. ARCA Midwest Tour teams will get a day of practice on Saturday; weather permitting, with the 100-lap feature event taking place on Sunday afternoon. Qualifying will be at 1:15pm on Sunday with racing set to start at 2:30pm.
