by Kari Shear-Carlson / Dec 31st, 2015 – When Mike Tiry of Tiry Race Engines decided to become a part of the ARCA Midwest Tour presented by Scag Power Equipment Rookie of the Year program, it seemed the logical next step in their success.
Tiry Race Engines began building engines for sportsman divisions many years ago, and as their success continued to grow, they continued to expand their program.
“After we won some championships [in the sportsman division], we moved up to the Mid-Am division. After winning championships with Swan and Holtz, we then won the Big 8 Series with Casey Johnson and Michael Bilderback,” said Mike Tiry.
Winning 10-12 championships is what Tiry says led him to the Midwest Tour and Rookie of the Year program and he is proud to be a part of it.
“We are supplying the Rookie of the Year, Austin Nason, with a Chevy ACE engine with parts from manufacturers that support the Tour, Lane Automotive, Crane, AllStar, Fel-Pro, J&E, and VDL. With some help from Chris Padgit at Comp Cams and months of testing, we came up with a camshaft that showed improvement over last year’s model. In fact, all the valve train is from Comp Cams. This engine will be dyno tested, completely broke in, and ready to race,” said Tiry.
Mike Tiry’s commitment goes above and beyond supplying an engine for the ROY. Tiry attended every Midwest Tour event in 2015. His goal is to develop relationships and work alongside all of the sponsors and engine programs involved with the Midwest Tour.
“This is just an engine to bring strong support for the Tour and I believe with this program we can continue to attract new cars and make new friends along the way,” Tiry concluded.
Mike Tiry will present the ARCA Midwest Tour Rookie of the Year, Austin Nason, with the engine at the 2015 ARCA Midwest Tour Championship banquet on February 6th in Fitchburg, WI.
