Ty Majeski continues to be on a roll in the ARCA Midwest Tour presented by SCAG Power Equipment as he won the Cabin Fever 100 for the third year in a row on Sunday afternoon at State Park Speedway in Wausau, Wisconsin.

Majeski’s victory is his 14th in the ARCA Midwest Tour, putting him only two wins away from tying Dan Fredrickson as the all-time win leader in the series.

It wasn’t an easy victory for the three-time defending series champion as he started 12th and had to work his way towards the front on a track that is well known for great side-by-side racing under a cloudy afternoon with a great crowd watching the hot action on the track.

As Jonathan Eilen paced the field throughout much of the race, Majeski was sneaking his way to the front as he got by Dalton Zehr for fourth by lap 26. Six laps later he followed Justin Mondeik past Austin Nason for third. It only took Majeski four laps to get by Mondeik for second while he saw Eilen about a straightaway away from him.

After a caution on lap 54 for Jim Sauter Jr.’s spin on the frontstretch, Majeski lined up behind Eilen on the restart. Five laps later Majeski took second away from Zehr and started to chase down Eilen.

The lap traffic helped Majeski quickly catch Eilen and make the winning move with 24 laps to go and pull away for the checkered flag.

“He (Eilen) got out to a big lead and I had to run him down,” Majeski said after the race. “A lot of times these Midwest Tour races go green for a long time so I had to methodically push it a little bit just in case it went green the rest of the way. You are always caught between with do you save it and hope for a caution or attack it and try to get there. But we got a caution and I already him at that point, but I was able to get by him after a restart.”

Obviously, Eilen would have enjoyed a victory today, but he was still all smiles with his runner-up finish.

“The car was really good at the beginning, actually the whole race, and I don’t know if I just used it up too soon or too fast,” Eilen exclaimed. “Hats off to my crew for continuing to keep working at this thing. The number of hours that go into this and giving us a good run really gives us momentum for the rest of the year.”

Chris Weinkauf came home with a third-place finish after a rough qualifying run, but had a special passenger in his car.

“Not a bad day. I messed up in qualifying big time so I put the whole team in the back and we were able to run up there and get a top-three and that is what we came here to do,” Weinkauf explained. “We had a sticker on our car for ‘Jessie’s Wish’ a really good friend of ours that died from cancer. They have a benefit on June 3rd. So, I think she was our angel today.”

Zehr came home fourth while Dillon Hammond came home with a strong fifth place finish.

Majeski will try to inch one race closer to tying Fredrickson next Saturday, May 27th as the ARCA Midwest Tour presented by SCAG Power Equipment makes a return to Jefferson Speedway in Jefferson, Wisconsin for the first time since 2008.

The Stars and Cars will be competing on “Wisconsin’s Action Track” in the ‘Salute the Troops 100’. Racing will get underway at 7pm.
