Kenseth Seeking First 250 Win at WIR this Tuesday Night

Kaukauna, WI- Matt Kenseth returns to Wisconsin International Raceway this Tuesday night (August 2, 2022) to compete in the $15,000 to Win Gandrud Auto Group 250. This will mark the 2003 NASCAR Cup Series Champion’s first return to WIR in fifteen years, a track he won back-to-back Championships at in 1994 and 1995.

“I have a lot of fond memories racing at WIR. Probably my favorite thing about that race track is that it’s very, very unique. I’ve never raced at another track that I can compare to Kaukauna.” Noted Kenseth, who was recently named as part of the NASCAR Hall of Fame Class of 2023. “All four corners are really different, and you have a little dogleg down the front stretch. The track has always been a fun, challenging, fast half-mile, where you could do a lot of passing. I had a lot of practice with that, especially when I raced there weekly for the Butz family in ’93 and ’94. Those were good times. I’ve had some big wins at WIR, but I’ve never won a Dixieland 250, so I’m looking forward to giving that another whirl. It’s definitely a big short track race in Wisconsin; one I’ve always wanted to win and never have been able to. Hopefully we can change that on Tuesday night.” Kenseth will be behind the wheel of the Shafer Motorsports Super Late Model which claimed the victory in last year’s event.

Spectator Gates open at 4pm with qualifying for the ARCA Midwest Tour and Midwest Truck Series beginning at 5pm. A general autograph session is planned for the fastest 16 qualifiers at 6pm. An early start time of 6:30pm for racing has been set for Tuesday night August 2. Adult general admission tickets are $25 and are available online in advance or at the ticket gates on race day.
