Morris, IL – A short track mid-summer classic makes its annual appearance on Saturday night with the Wayne Carter Classic 100 at the Grundy County Speedway in Morris, IL for the ASA Midwest Tour.
It will be a hot night of racing action with the Stars & Cars of the ASAMT along with the Midwest Truck Series and the Midwest Dash Series also in action.
Along with the hot weather for a Saturday night, a question to be answered is will Ty Majeski continue his winning hot streak after winning the first three events of the 2024 season. The full-time NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver is heading to Grundy fresh from the last Truck Series event at Pocono Raceway on Friday.
Behind Majeski in the points standings is a tight points battle with drivers hungry to visit victory lane, including many who want to etch their names into the prestigious past winners list of the Wayne Carter Classic.
Kulwicki Driver Development Series competitor Levon Van Der Geest is second in points and is only one point ahead of 2023 Series Champion Gabe Sommers. Max Kahler is fourth, 70 points back with Justin Mondiek just a point behind Kahler in fifth. Rookie sensation Ty Fredrickson is only four points behind Kahler.
Also, never count out Chicagoland stars and past winners in this event to also break Majeski’s streak on Saturday night. Paul Shafer Jr. will be looking to be the first back-to-back winner since Joe Shear did it 30 years ago in 1994. Eddie Hoffman will be looking for his fourth Wayne Carter Classic 100 victory, while Ricky Baker, who had a tough battle for his victory with Majeski in 2017, looks to stop the five-time ASAMT champion’s momentum.
Tickets can be purchased in advance via the Ticket Hoss App or at the Grundy County Speedway ticket gate on Saturday beginning at 3pm. Adult General Admission tickets are $25, Seniors (ages 62 and over) are $20, Students (ages 12-17) tickets are $10 with ages 11 and under admitted Free.
