Fredrickson’s 36 Ready for Shear Classic at MIS this Sunday

Oregon, WI- It was only fitting that the number 36 Super Late Model would speed to victory during the inaugural Joe Shear Classic at Madison International Speedway in 2008, a race paying tribute to the short track auto racing legend whose cars were adorned with the famous 36 script number. Dan Fredrickson who piloted his 36 to victory that day has indicated that he will return to ‘Wisconsin’s Fastest Half Mile’ this Sunday afternoon May 2 for the 2021 edition of the Joe Shear Classic which features the ARCA Midwest Tour in a $10,000 to win, 200 lap feature event.

Fredrickson has had his share of short track success as well. The two-time ARCA Midwest Tour Champion sits second on the all-time win column with 15 career triumphs in Tour action. While LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway has been his strong suit, having scored four Oktoberfest Tour wins plus a fourth Dick Trickle 99 during Fest just last year, Madison has been kind to the Minnesota driver as well. In addition to his Shear win in 2008, Fredrickson captured the 2017 MIS Super Late Model Triple Crown Title as well as his second career Super Late Model win at the Oregon speedplant. A second Shear win has eluded him however, finishing second to Andrew Morrissey in 2017 and again coming up one position short in 2018 when Austin Nason was victorious. Fredrickson started his 2021 season strong, winning in World Series of Asphalt competition at Florida’s New Smyrna Speedway during Speedweeks, an event Shear was Champion of in 1988. Now Fredrickson looks to carry that momentum into Sunday and put his 36 back in Joe Shear Classic victory lane.

Joining the ARCA Midwest Tour will be the Midwest Truck Series and 602 Outlaw Late Models. Spectator gates will open on Sunday May 2 at 10:30am with practice getting underway at 11:30am.
